Question--I bought a new stainless Beaumark and noticed small gaps in the corners of the door on the hinge side that I can stick a large toothpick into. Are these normal? No chance of leakage from these gaps?:\

Typical wavelength of microwaves in microwave ovens is about 12cm, too big to "fit" through small openings. Even if some were to magically leak, it wouldn't harm you.

Turn the microwave on. Get really close and try to look into the gaps. See if you can see any waves escaping. You'll need to put your eyes right up against the gap. You might have to look for a very long time to see the waves, as they are tricky to see.

also, if you rub ground cinnamon into your eyes, it will help your ocular nerves detect the microwaves better.
