I don't know why you'd buy a season pass now. They aren't limited edition, you can wait to see what they come out with before buying it. I'll check back to see what they do with the DLC from time to time, but if it isn't a new map then I won't bother. Doing more random missions on the same maps isn't what I'd want.

I too was disappointed that the dagger/sword/bow quests didn't give anything. I thought maybe they'd unlock an additional rune slot or something.

I agree with "Steve" . The 10 missions for the dagger, bow, and sword should have rewarded you with "SOMETHING" - whats the point- I finished the dagger - and then realized there was no reward- so did not bother with the other 2 in spite of them both being only one away from completion.

You get better looking weapons. That is the reward.

FYI, BB and Amazon have Shadow of Mordor on sale for $50. If you have GCU with BB, it brings it down to $40.

BB is also supposedly giving 50% additional for trade in's the week of Nov. 2. TIV for Shadow of Mordor right now is $38 @ BB (which will probably be lowered before the additional 50% goes live).

Anywho, I ordered a copy today with GCU with the intent of beating it and getting most of my money back trading it in in a week or two, so any like-minded folks interested in the console version might want to give it a try.

Stupid question of the day.
How the heck do you do a mounted beast finisher?
I'm on PC using an xbox 360 controller.

Still playing this, it is the first of its kind, to me anyway, that doesnt make the side-quests feel like a chore .. I want to dig up those small pieces to get the whole story (and no, im not a tolkien nutjob).. about 50% now and netted 80 hours on it so far. (branding is fun).
Oh the crashes seems to be gone with the last patch.

It gets my vote for best game of 2014 hands down.

ps. almost didnt get this game cause it *is* a brand name-game and they almost always suck.. exception to the rule i guess.

On PS4, you press triangle when A) the enemy is stunned on the ground, or B) the enemy hasn't detected you yet. I'm pretty sure the caragor's bite move is the finisher?

I would guess that triangle translates to "Y" on an Xbox controller.

Yeah it's a licensed game, but there seems to be a chance it's good if it's not directly tied to a movie release. Remember that Riddick game? That was great, and it wasn't tied to any movie, it was it's own thing. I also enjoyed the Ghostbusters game even though it was fairly simple and short.

I got a copy for under $30 from one of the online key stores.

You can get it from Nuuvem, a legit store, for the same price.

Same deal. Buying the key from an out of country seller. Not sure how that particular one is any more 'legit'. They're all grey market keys. Some people use VPN buy direct from things like the mexican origin store too.

maybe I miss something in the tutorial, but I feel like the trolls keep regenerating health. Battles lasts a very long time. Isn't there like a finisher when they're on the ground or something?

Yep, and there's an in-game tutorial menu with pre-recorded videos (in a small window) showing all the moves you've learned (and showing the character in said window performing them). From the game's menu, go to Appendices, then move to the last tab to the right.

Crossfire yet?

Edit: newest AMD beta drivers do have a SoM profile. It works, but it is far from good. I expect refinements in the next version. It bumped my fps up to ~70 avg, but introduced a ton of stutter. not so much tearing, just stutter.

Well, finished the story and am pretty well done with this game I think. I did about 70%. Some of the weapons missions are just so stupid. Anything that was "dont get detected" I found to be very frustrating. Why can't I get detected? Why bother to give Talion such badass abilities if I can't use them?

The end of the game was great though. The gameplay of the final bosses was basically non-existant, but the story ending was pretty good imo.

All around great game. Would recommend.

Been playing this game a bit at a friend's house. Glad I didn't buy it. I found that the game got very quickly repetitive and tedious. Slashing up orcs over and over is only fun for so long even if you're unlocking cool new ways to explode them. It feels like Assassin's Creed with Arkham Asylum/City's fighting system. The AI system for the orcs is kind of interesting and maybe something good can be done with that in a future game.

Am I missing something? Does something change it up? I got through 3 of 4 of the first zone's war chiefs.

If you don't like fighting big packs of orcs mixed in with captains and war chiefs then you aren't going to like the game, it's the best part. The story line is fairly good, but only if you are a LOTR fan. The boss fights are all very underwhelming.

I like the mechanics a lot, but I was hoping the main story would play a more prominent part. Feels a little too sandboxy for me. Kinda like the farcry series I guess.

Working my way through it right now, I have to say it's great since I just beat Ryse, which personally pissed me off with that ending, great game though and the world was gorgous.

I have to say though, being the 3rd game I'm working to beat this year isn't showing me much promise, hopefully I'll be done with it and that will mark Tomb raider, ryse and SoM off my list and I can move on.
