I am always skeptical of pre-release reviews, because that means that the reviewer got early access to the game, and thus might not be the most objective review. I also want to see what the performance is like in light of the high system requirements.

I have to agree, early access reviews mean that the reviewer has contractually agreed to take the game early and comply with any restrictions the company put out. Its actually a great way to tell which sites are corrupt.

So is early access mean they can release the review prior to the official lift of the NDA? Because in the world of console games going back to the SNES magazines always got games early to meet publishing dates, and as well with websites.

Well the nemesis system looks as simple as I imagined, but it seems robust and well implemented. I'm happy to see that it is, in a way, random and based on player actions.

I could see myself letting certain orcs beat me just to see what they would be like as a captain

Gamespot said the story was meh. Action-RPG's are already pretty boring to play as it is so I think i'm passing on this one until its on sale.

As I've said many times, the system is, 'previews' are the marketing side of the industry, fluff hyping the game, and reviews are the 'journalist' side usually not corrupted.

I just pre-ordered Shadows of Mordor + Season Pass (Steam activated) for $56 total. (Reg: 74.98) at greenmangaming:

http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/us/en/pc/games/action/middle-earth-shadow-mordor-and-season-pass/

SEPTEM-BEROFF-ER25XX

I'm trying to do the same but for some reason my PayPal login (or password) doesn't work anymore once I am sent to the "check out with PayPal" page. The thing is my login works on the actual PayPal website itself. It just doesn't work when I'm trying to check out from GMG.

This is frustrating, I want SoM at that price!

EDIT: Alright, the problem was fixed, and I purchased it, good deal I think (since it includes the Season Pass, and hopefully the game will be supported for a good amount of time post-release).

I just fired it up. Set everything to Ultra @ 1440p (except the "6gb vram required" textures, in process of downloading that 3.7gb file). Either the game isn't optimized for SLI or something's not right because the built in benchmarks gets me on 59 fps avg with my 980's in SLI.
Off to bed though, I'll run some benches tomorrow

Sounds like some type of internal vsync... Probably a holdover from console code where TV's can't process more than 60 fps.

Hope my card can handle it (a 670 GTX). I was trying to hold out for the 20nm cards sometime next year (I am only playing at 1920x1200 so that helps a lot).

anyone started playing this already?
how is pc optimization?
It's quite good; Runs very nice on my 144Hz monitor + OC 980; usually have framerates around 80-100.

Max settings except ambient occlusion, which is one notch below.

neither Steam nor I can find my pre-load, yet my harddrive space was reduced considerably. Having to re-download. sigh...

ouch, a thousand dollar GPU only gets 80-100 fps at 1080p I am guessing? Or are you running 1440p?

Took about six minutes of a twitch stream to convince me to buy this game. Should provide some faster-paced gaming to counter-balance my time in Divinity:OS.

using the ingame benchmark tool for all of about 10 min this morning

@ 1440p unning a single 7950 it can maintain 30 FPS at whatever it chooses for its settings when you select "auto settings"

running 2 7950s in CF with the "auto settings" it pretty much sets everything to ultra, averages ~60 FPS but you can tell it slows down and or drops frames. Min on the tool was 12 FPS

dropping it down to "very high" and turning on vsync its able to maintain 60 FPS and runs smoothly

970s need to come back in stock asap

turning on CF however did make the menus go nuts, they flicker all over the place

Just curious, did you use the new 14.9 driver that was released yesterday?

I was going to update the drivers yesterday but I spent too much time playing Destiny last night and forgot about it

I don't recall seeing anything in the patch notes about Shadow of Mordor, and I'd be surprised if there was anything in the 14.9 update. Hopefully AMD has some optimization soon though! I have CF 7970s in 1080p Eyefinity. No idea how it is going to run & haven't had the chance to test yet. I may skip Eyefinity altogether with this title though if it runs poorly enough.

Edit: I heard there's a benchmark utility. What are people scoring with their setups?
