This is a very old-issue. I remember ~4 years ago Dell having 10/100 NIC's for $1 each w/ free shipping. I ordered 20 and was bashed here something awful. People explained it pretty clearly then and it stuck. E-businesses expect errors in their systems from time to time and have integrity checks that watch for things like large spikes in orders, particularly those with large quantities of single items. So yeah, people like you (and me back then) could have contributed to a deal being caught a little sooner than it otherwise would have been. It's cool for you to say ra ra capitalism and live life for yourself, but don't expect to come to a forum and have everybody be particularly friendly at the same time.

Unfortunately, that wouldn't help. PresslufthammerBernd proudly posted news about his accomplishment, but other selfish people could always exploit a deal (and maybe ruin it for others) without posting or even being a member.

Would you feel any different if I bought the cards for building four systems that I'd sell? (That isn't the case, just asking.)

I too agree with all the others its ppl like PresslufthammerBernd that kill deals and ruin it for those who genuinely want it for their computer, not to be some dumb@$$ ebay jerk. Sorry if that hurts your feelings, but that is how I feel considering myself and others on this board could use those 4 cards that you are just going to re-sell fora profit. It's frowned upon because dealhunting isn't a damn business to a lot of us, it's a hobby that allows us to get the best possible price on the items we want or need. It's "savvy shopping," not "savage capitalism." We're not stupid little @#$%s who buy stuff just to resell it. It goes against the entire purpose of hot deals in the first place. It's not designed to be some way for you to make money. Get a job, maybe contribute something to society for a change. You've hit the nail on the head as to why I don't throw stuff to the wolves. I'd rather NOT be selfish, I want to share great deals with people just like they were shared with me, but pricks who try to make a living taking advantage of something like this and buying and reselling to their hearts content ruin it for everyone.

This is why there aren't NEARLY as many hot deals anymore. When you have something like the Target Rainchecks, you have morons who come around and try to buy 50 games at x% off so they can re-sell them and then, the deal dies out for everyone else, and doesn't come back. It's sickening.

I guess I can see that maybe swiping stuff of regular retail channels (ATI.com) for resale is a bit different than a reseller acquiring his stuff through a wholesale channel. So, with that in mind, I take my leave.
Of course, if I see a deal, I will go after it.

PresslufthammerBernd - you've received criticism from some (including me) on this thread and handled it very gracefully. As you said, all you've really done is taken advantage of an opportunity to profit from this deal and I'm sure that others who didn't post did the same. For what it's worth, even though I would rather see the chance to benefit from deals spread around a little more, it's pretty refreshing to see someone who may not agree try to understand other points of view.

I also read the whole thread. A lot of people who do resells of items like this are college students. When you happen to live in a town where to have a job is hard enough..... getting paid about minium because they know you need the job. Getting money off random things really helps out. Granted when i'm making enough to support myself, hopefully w/ a salary, and still lurking the forums I'll be mad when these deals die so fast.

Since you mention capitalism, you do realize that in Game theory, when many actors are all doing what's best for themselves it means that they don't get what's best overall for everyone, right?

That's what everybody's pissed about, since your actions may be in your best interest, but when many people do like you do and do what's in their best interest, it's in everybody's worst interest.

I was gonna post the classic game theory example with jailtime but then I realized it would only make things so much more confusing lol.

Then why does it seem like the one's buying 2 or more are getting cancelled? Or could it be the one's who got real greedy and tried to stack both the 10% and 20% are getting cancelled? Not sure yet how it's going to shake down but I bet ATI is being diligent in going over these orders. We shall see.
