migrate or what to move drives

My buddy is updating his system.
A new ssd for his os and just imaged his old C and put it on the new ssd and what a difference.
Now the hard part. He has an old 250G hard drive and a 500G drive.
BOTH have games and apps installed on them. D AND E

Is there any way to image or migrate them to a new 4G Sata6 hard drive, and keep from having to reinstall all the games and apps he has on them?
He wants to partition the 4G into 3 partitions I assume its D E F type of setup.
move d and e over and have a new F.

At first I thought about just copying all the files but I don't think that will help.
move old D to new DD then remove old D and rename new DD to D would that work?

heck I have never thought of this before.
Anyone got a way to do this?

In my experience no, although cloning or imaging would most likely work; Macrium Reflect is a good clone app.

It's a little bit of a pain but reinstalling the games is the best; he could also put the save game files on a flash drive then copy into the appropriate directory once the game is reinstalled.

Sure, easy as pie.
Clone D's & E's partitions to the new HD.
When clone is done, power off system, and disconnect the 2 old HDs.
Then power up system. Enter Disk Management, and assign the same letter as they had before.
Done.
(Note, you can also make the partitions how you want them first, then clone into those partitions. Then you don't have to mess with the resize of the partitions).

thanks Elixer but it turned out I didn't have all the info.
I told him to go dl something like Esus or macrum which has free personal dl to try.
OK he called me back and said it wants to do the whole drive.

but what about the partitions on them.

UH what partitions?
I told him I didn't have a clue if you could clone a partition.
much less clone a drive with partitions to a partition on a new drive.

Why do I answer the phone LOL


ps he said he purchased AOMEI Backupper Professional and it clones partitions.
I have never even heard of them but will let everyone know it works.
I am sure I will get a phone call either way
