I'll find out about the chat room tonight. I have the stupid messenger installed, but I haven't actually used it yet.

Donyell Marshall (TOR) - Maybe a change of scenery was all
Marshall needed. After being traded to the Raptors last season, he
suddenly exploded into a fantasy monster. In his 66 games with
Toronto, Marshall averaged 16.2 points and 10.7 rebounds, not to
mention 1.2 steals and 1.6 blocks. Although 2003-04 was likely his
career year, very few big men contribute in as many categories as
Marshall, which makes him a valuable commodity once again this
season. Marshall's value could change, however, depending on
where Vince Carter ends up. If Carter were dealt, expect Marshall's
scoring to increase a bit over last year; his other stats should not
change much. Otherwise, the former UConn standout should have
another very good season, so long as he stays healthy - durability
has been a problem for him in the past.

Which leaves jbahseng with...

Ron Artest!

Ron Artest (IND) - If one-on-one shut down defense counted as
a fantasy category, Artest would be atop that list. Unfortunately,
stopping your man on defense doesn't count in fantasy, but that
doesn't mean Artest doesn't have anything to contribute in legitimate
fantasy categories. Artest is simply a possessed player on
defense, doing anything at anytime to get his team the ball. For that
reason, Artest should be great for steals. Also, Artest can knock
down the three and score points when the Pacers need a clutch
shot. The offseason signing of Stephen Jackson will cut into
Artest's shots some, but Jackson is more likely to play the shooting
guard spot and split time with Reggie Miller. Artest should again log
heavy minutes and be a productive component of the Pacers'
attack. Just don't expect him to improve on his career year.

He should average around five assists and five rebounds per game.
It remains to be seen how Terry can fit in with the sometimes chaotic
Dallas offense; we may see Marquis Daniels, Michael Finley, and
Dirk Nowitzki handle the ball more frequently than they did when
Nash was in town. Terry put up good numbers in Atlanta, but it's
hard to see him matching those totals on a much deeper Dallas
roster.

excellent question

I don't think the Cards are going to force a game 6 (the curse officially dies tonight), but the draft will go on at 7:30PM EST / 4:30 PST

I'll work the details out tonight and send an email, but...

hopefully there's some sort of yahoo chatroom feature we can all log into. There has got to be one. We'll all log in and each manager gets 5 minutes to make a pick.

I will also have MSN messenger running and can recieve picks on that.

We will finish L1 first, then finish L2.

Anyone who can't make it will get the auto-pick based on the list they sent me (nobody has) or the yahoo default list (ala jbahseng).

It will take me an hour or so to upload the picks to the league page, then I think there's a waiver period, after which everyone can start hitting the FA pool.

Oh, and Keelin takes

Jason Richardson (GS) - One of the most athletically gifted
players in the league, Richardson has the ability to excel at almost
any facet of the game on any given night - from his astounding
rebounding ability from the guard position to his hot streaks from
behind the arc. In his first few seasons in the NBA, however,
Richardson has failed to put it all together with any consistency. But
now that he has a couple seasons under his belt, Richardson
should be ready to take the next step towards fantasy elite status
this season. Expect an increase in points, threes, and steals and
expect to grab him in either the fifth or sixth round of your league
draft.

too bad there's no dunk category

League 2, Kirk Hinrich

Kirk Hinrich (CHI) - Hinrich was one of the biggest surprises in
basketball last year, and he should only get better as he gains more
experience. Hinrich averaged 14.9 ppg and 8.2 apg over his last 29
games. He'll give you almost two threes per game, and can give
you four rebounds and a steal or two per outing. He doesn't shoot
for a great percentage, only about 39 percent in his rookie season,
but Hinrich helps you on so many levels that he's a great grab later
on in your draft. Hinrich doesn't have the national attention of a
Mike Bibby or a Sam Cassell, but he might outproduce them both.
Now, if Hinrich's teammates Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler can
take a step forward, Hinrich could really take those assist numbers
up a notch

Kenyon Martin (DEN) - Ah, K-Mart. Fierce competitor. Fiery
leader. Awesome finisher on the break. You will be sorely missed by
the fans at the Meadowlands - all seven of them. You will form a
highly imposing front line in Denver, with Nene, Marcus Camby and
Carmelo Anthony. Unfortunately, you will be hard-pressed to equal
last year's averages of 16.7 points and 9.5 boards because you will
not have Jason Kidd to feed you on the break, and you will be
going up against the Duncans and Garnetts, and not the Kenny
Thomases and Drew Goodens every night.

For League #2 I choose Michaek Finley

Edit

Err Michael Finely

Michael Finley (DAL) - Finley is one of fantasy basketball's most
underrated players. Year after year, Finley puts up solid, but not
spectacular numbers but goes unnoticed. Don't equate his lack of
spectacular performances as the sign of an average player. Finley's
consistent contributions in threes and points should offset the lack
of 40-point games and highlight-reel dunks. The Mavericks were
extremely busy in the offseason, acquiring Erick Dampier and Jerry
Stackhouse among others in an attempt to bolster their lineup into
a championship contender. With Stackhouse on board, Finley's
minutes might take a bit of a hit this season, and his production
could decrease across the board slightly. Still, Finley should make
for a fine late-round four or early-round five selection.

Carlos Boozer, Jazz
After a breakout 2003-04 campaign, Boozer decided to screw over the Cavaliers when the Jazz waved a fat wad of cash in his face. Now, we're cautioning you against any promises Carlos might make to your fantasy club. Boozer was a double-double machine last season, averaging 15.5 points and 11.4 rebounds, and he added in one steal and a solid 52.3 shooting percentage. Not only are we worried about Boozer being complacent now that he has his huge contract, but we've also noticed that the Jazz already own two forwards (Andrei Kirilenko and Matt Harpring) who averaged eight rebounds per night and added a center (Mehmet Okur) who should be right around that mark. That's a lot of hands reaching for loose balls, and we wouldn't be surprised to see Carlos below double-digit rebounds.

ouch!

that leaves jbahseng with... the offspring of ET and Mrs. Potatohead... your favorite NBA alien... that's right, the Troy Hudson career and DS draft killer...

Sam Cassell!!! (ranked #17 by yahoo and available at #32... nice pickup)

ranked based on last year's stats. No way Cassell has as good a year, plus he's losing a step.

you never know, it's not like he's a human being so maybe different laws of nature apply. maybe on mars you get better with age.

btw, is it 3 bench spots or 2? both leagues are set differently

forgot to post earlier... 2 bench spots only. i fixed it so they're the same earlier today.
