ATOT Fantasy BBall ?05
Overview:
This is the third year of the Unofficial ATOT Yahoo Fantasy Basketball league.
Recap:
The inaugural ?03 season was absolutely dominated by jbahseng.
Scoring was head to head. Stat categories included: FG%, FT%, 3PTM, 3PT%, PTS, REB, ST, BLK, AST, TO, A/T, EJCT, FF
I have no idea what the final standings were.
The ?04 league was barely won by yours truly after a battle with Kev that went down to the wire. We picked up a few new managers, most notably Baboon(nospace)Guy who quickly fell to the cellar and remained there all season. ?IMMMA F U GUYS UP NEXT YEAR? was his parting shot, instantly filling the other managers with fear and dread only now able to be confronted. ?Executive League? status was obtained by including a prize payout of Best Buy gift cards. The controversial FF and A/T categories were eliminated.
Final standings (draft pick):
1. Stark (3)
2. Kev (1)
3. prodigy (7)
4. roncarter (6)
5. neovan (5)**
6. Storm (4)
7. DS (2)
8. jbahseng (8)*
9. enjoi (10)*
10. BaboonGuy (9)
?05 promises to be the most comprehensive battle of ATOT basketball brains of all time. AST and TO have been combined in the A/T category and EJCT remains to penalize Ron Artest owners. This year, instead of one ?executive? and one ?free? league, each manager will have two different teams in two leagues fighting for two prizes. The difference in the leagues?
Draft Order*
Unlike the real NBA, where crappy teams are rewarded by David Stern for sucking by getting a better shot at the annual crop of high school players thinking they?re the next KG, this year?s draft is based on how well you did last year. That?s right, final standings now determine the draft. No more hazy ?order based on when you saw the thread and signed up,? it?s all about bragging rights from what you did in the past.
Bragging rights order:
1. Stark ? Angry Shaq
2. kev - TLack
3. prodigy ? NYK-Mengke Bateer
4. roncarter - YaoSter
5. DS ? Phi Slamma Jamma
6. jbahseng - Who cares?
7. CPA - Melo is a BBall God! (unless you're larry brown)
8. keelin - Lamar (Rookie)
9. gleong - GS Warriors in '05 (R)
10. Storm ? Curly Larry Moe **
11. neovan ? WHOA!**
12. BaboonGuy - Tre II
To make sure things are fair, the second league will be the exact opposite order. That means that for sucking last year, BaboonGuy, swai, and jbahseng can draft KG, TMac, or Kobe! Of course, since the #1 pick has never won it all (that second round pick is a looooong way off), BG and I will have our work cut out for us to prove our hoops genius. IMHO, prodigy and jbahseng are in the best spot, but then again I was able to pick KG at #3 last year. I don?t see that happening again.
David Stern Suck-tatious Reverse order:
1. BaboonGuy
2. neovan**
3. Storm
4. gleong (R)
5. keelin (R)
6. CPA
7. jbahseng
8. DS
9. roncarter
10. prodigy
11. Kev
12. Stark
(update: roncarter claims he made the playoffs. prodigy claims he made it to the finals in the winners bracket, which means he was #3 or #6. I'm moving rc to #4. **Neo opted to move down the ladder in L1 to move up in L2. Storm continues the losers bracket boogie by taking the 10/3 spot.)
Prizes:
League 1: $90 in BB Gift Cards
League 2: $90 in BB Gift Cards
Bragging rights: priceless
Draft results:
The draft will be the week before the season starts (10/24-11/1). This will give the most time to research and see who breaks their kneecaps in training camp, and let DS go on a chocolate binge over in Brussels (or Bolivia, same difference).
The bulk of the draft will be conducted via live chat sometime during "draft week." Time and date still TBD. If you agree to the time and don't make the draft, you will get the highest default ranked player for any available spot on your roster. Please try to make the draft!!
Everyone STILL needs to send me an address that you check often that I can add to a distro list with updates throughout the day. If you want a copy of an excel spreadsheet with the default yahoo rankings to keep track of your picks, request it and I?ll mail you a copy.
Team names are locked at least through the draft.
More to come?
Looks like we have our work cut out for us!
