i'll start: my aim is "ibvandam"

i was thinking yahoo messenger because, well, we're already signed up with an id and it's listed on the league page.

i'd hate to install the messenger app, but i'll sacrifice for the sake of the league.

I still haven't recieved emails from alex (BG) or keelin. I'll be gone for the rest of the day, but I'll post their responses tonight and send out more email updates.

We almost made it throught the first round in league 1. I'm glad we started a week early.

updates!!

Keelin wans Starbury in league 2

Stephon Marbury (NY) - Is Marbury the best point guard in the
NBA? Not a chance. But he may the top choice for fantasy owners,
particularly in leagues that don't penalize too heavily for turnovers.
Marbury is primarily a scorer, averaging over 20 points a game in
each of the past six seasons, but he racks up a surprising number
of assists for someone who's known as a bit of a ballhog; he's
averaging 8.3 apg for his career, and put up 8.9 apg last season.
He'll help you defensively with about a steal and a half per game as
well. More importantly, the Knicks will be better with the return of
Allan Houston and the addition of Jamal Crawford, which not only
gives Marbury more passing options, but also takes away the tripleteams
he often fought through after Houston went out with an injury
last season.Marbury is durable, having missed just two games in
the past three seasons. He does turn the ball over (averaging 3.25
per game for his career), but his other numbers more than make up
for the missteps.

The BannedboonGuy wants
Paul Pierce and Yao Ming for league 1

jbahseng is sending me his prerank list, so that should speed up his picks for next week. BG and keelin are the only email only managers, and they're usually pretty quick with responses. DS will be back in the states, so I'm confident that we'll start kicking butt next week.

Steve Francis (ORL) - Talk about needing a change of scenery!
Francis should have a huge bounce back year now that he's away
from Jeff Van Gundy's Yao-centric approach. Francis rivals Jason
Kidd as a rebounding threat from the point guard position, and he
may increase his assist totals now that his running mate Cuttino
Mobley and new teammate Dwight Howard are in place to fill the
lane and convert Francis passes into scores.Francis shot the poorest
percentage of his career last season (40.3 percent), and should
up that now that he's back in an offense he's comfortable in. Don't
hesitate to grab Francis in the second or third round of your draft.

Allen Iverson (PHI) - Call him a fool or call him a hero, Iverson
puts his body on the line every single play of every game. If basketball
ever had a warrior, look no further than Iverson. Iverson is surrounded
yet again with mediocre talent this year, as Eric Snow is
now manning the point for phenom Lebron James. Iverson will be
looked upon once again to provide almost all of the Sixers' offense,
which could be either bad or good in the eyes of fantasy owners.
Sure, Iverson will have the opportunities he needs for great point
outputs, but his FG% is bound to suffer once again. Look for much
of the same from Iverson this season, with a slight increase in
assists. He's also a good bet to be among the league-leaders in
steals. As long as he doesn't find himself on the IL, Iverson should
produce solid numbers and merits an mid-to-late second-round
pick.

edit: keelin takes Baron Davis (updated below, too lazy to retype everything)

CPA is up next

CPA takes:

Michael Redd (MIL) - Redd was quite a revelation for both
Bucks fans and fantasy owners last season, stepping out of the
shadow of Ray Allen. Ironically, Redd is a very similar player to Allen
and is a threat to be this season's top three-point shooter. His
rebounding and play-making skills have fantasy owners yearning for
more, but Redd's points, threes and steals alone should make him
an excellent shooting guard option on any fantasy team. Although
playing time won't be an issue, Redd might not increase his averages
from last season, as the Bucks like to spread the basketball
around. Because Redd's value comes mostly from threes and
points, he could be a frustrating player to own when he doesn't
shoot lights out. Draft Redd in the third round and enjoy the healthy
boost to your three-pointers week after week.

jbahseng is up I don't know if he left for his trip yet, and I never got a custom list from him.

DS, if you get back home and you're ready to pick before jbahseng posts, go ahead and assume he chose Lamar Odom (ranked #16 by yahoo) He's been notified by email.

Uh based on one of your e-mails I got the impression that we would need a list by Thursday... if we were to be away. Maybe jbahseng is in the air and wants to send you the list when he touches down at his location?

here's the last email i got from him:
Hi Stark, most likely i won't be able to join the live chat next Thurs. Just draft the best player availble for me, in case i didn't send you my draft list. I'll try to compile over this weekend and send it to you later.

I'm confused

And there won't be any chat draft Thurs... it's going to be Sat when more people are available. I suppose I should clarify that in an email.

Send the e-mail now so we have basically a week. Also we should have a default draft ranking listing in case ppl do not send in their lists.

Zach Randolph (POR) - Isn't it amazing how some teams have
distinct personalities that extend to every player? The Detroit "Bad

'90s. John Madden's Raiders. And, of course, the Jail Blazers. Has
every player on this team been in trouble with the law, or does it
just seem that way? In the latest installment of this Rose City soap
opera, Randolph was involved in a shooting at a nightclub last
month. He didn't pull the trigger, but he may have misled the police
and hindered the investigation. This after winning the NBA's Most
Improved Player award with a 20.1-point, 10.5-board, two-assist
average for the 2002-03 season. He was a lock to receive a fat contract
extension - now rumors have him being shipped out to the
first taker. Draft him for his considerable talent - he was an automatic
double-double last year, and is primed to improve. But when
drafting, consider the baggage.

Give me Amare for league 1. I tried not to pick the same player for both league, but he looks like the best big man available right now.

Stark, i'll try to send you me draft list by next morning. If i can't get it on time, you just pick the best player for me. Thanks. I'll have internet access during the trip, just wonder whether i have time to check on.

Just checked my email, looks like the draft will be on Oct 30. In that case i should be back and ready for the live draft.

DS takes Ben Wallace

roncarter and BG are up.

sidenote:

Dick Stockton and Tom Heinson were the best announcers ever. You just have to love an NBA Greatest Game where young Ewing is being groomed by Hubie Brown (with perm) and going against Parish and Walton. The Celts had a great first team back then (85-86), but you wonder if the second squad could win a game in a YMCA league.

I still can't believe whiney crybaby Ainge got the head job with the Celtics and Bird had to go to Indiana to get a shot.
