Mike Bibby (SAC) - Bibby doesn't rack up the big assist numbers
of some of the top point guards, putting up about five and a
half per game, but he has some other nice numbers. Bibby stepped
up his scoring average last season, putting up 18.4 ppg with almost
two threes per contest, and he did it while shooting for a nice percentage,
45 percent. He can put up over a steal a game, and can
grab a few boards at the point guard position as well. Bibby doesn't
have to play a ton of minutes with Bobby Jackson around to back
him up, which helps the Kings, but hurts your fantasy team, as he
doesn't put up the raw numbers of a Marbury or a Cassell. He also
may not be asked to score as much if Chris Webber can stay
healthy all season.

Stephon Marbury (NY) - Is Marbury the best point guard in the
NBA? Not a chance. But he may the top choice for fantasy owners,
particularly in leagues that don't penalize too heavily for turnovers.
Marbury is primarily a scorer, averaging over 20 points a game in
each of the past six seasons, but he racks up a surprising number
of assists for someone who's known as a bit of a ballhog; he's
averaging 8.3 apg for his career, and put up 8.9 apg last season.
He'll help you defensively with about a steal and a half per game as
well. More importantly, the Knicks will be better with the return of
Allan Houston and the addition of Jamal Crawford, which not only
gives Marbury more passing options, but also takes away the tripleteams
he often fought through after Houston went out with an injury
last season.Marbury is durable, having missed just two games in
the past three seasons. He does turn the ball over (averaging 3.25
per game for his career), but his other numbers more than make up
for the missteps.

ok, I'll take

Steve Nash

Steve Nash (PHO) - The long-haired Canadian moves back to
the team that gave him his NBA start back in 1996-97. Nash isn't
the scorer that some of the point guards listed above him are (averaging
14.5 ppg last season), but Nash picks his spots intelligently,
shooting 48 percent from the field overall, and 41 percent from the
3-point line. Nash really helps you in two important categories.
Nash put up 8.8 assists per game last season, and with Quentin
Richardson, Shawn Marion, and Amare Stoudamire filling the lane,
Nash should have plenty of targets. And if you draft Nash (unless
you draft Shaq along with him), you've got a big leg up in free throw
percentage: Nash shot 92 percent from the charity stripe last season.
Not bad.

and...

golly this was a hard pick... odom, nah. gasol, nah. miller, maybe. lewis, nah.

Lamar is the highest rated guy on all my lists, bud I hate to take him. Oh well, every point he gets this year is one that kobe doesn't get. Plus he's one of those rare Fs.

so I take

Lamar Odom (LAL) - Odom returns to the Staples Center, this
time in a purple and gold uniform. The best player coming west in
the Shaquille O'Neal trade, Odom will slide right into the Lakers'
starting lineup at small forward and will play alongside Kobe Bryant
in an open run-and-gun offense. Odom struggled to keep his mind
on the court and away from trouble as a Clipper and will need to
stay focused to have a productive season. If anybody has the
potential to do so, however, Odom's the man. With a long reach
and amazing ball-handling skills for a 6-10 big man, Odom can do
many things on the court. Odom isn't head-and-shoulders better
than anybody else at one particular category. Instead, he's above
average to good in most categories, scoring close to twenty points,
pulling down double digit rebounds, racking up 4-5 assists, with a
steal and a three per game to add to his impressive stat line. With
those numbers, Odom should be a great third round pick and might
even go as high as the second round in some drafts.

Please don't smoke any weed this season!!!!

back to you kev.

Allen Iverson (PHI) - Call him a fool or call him a hero, Iverson
puts his body on the line every single play of every game. If basketball
ever had a warrior, look no further than Iverson. Iverson is surrounded
yet again with mediocre talent this year, as Eric Snow is
now manning the point for phenom Lebron James. Iverson will be
looked upon once again to provide almost all of the Sixers' offense,
which could be either bad or good in the eyes of fantasy owners.
Sure, Iverson will have the opportunities he needs for great point
outputs, but his FG% is bound to suffer once again. Look for much
of the same from Iverson this season, with a slight increase in
assists. He's also a good bet to be among the league-leaders in
steals. As long as he doesn't find himself on the IL, Iverson should
produce solid numbers and merits an mid-to-late second-round
pick.

Wow that leaves Kidd,Marbury,AI,Cassell...

yeah I know, but I liked his threes
I'll take Cassell now.

Sam Cassell (MIN) - Cassell seems to get better with age,
though a hip injury limited his effectiveness in the playoffs, and he's
returning from offseason surgery to correct the problem. Cassell
averaged a career-high 19.8 ppg in 2003-04, and put up 7.2 apg as
well. He shoots a high percentage (48.8 percent last season), and is
great from the line as well (87.3 percent). Kevin Garnett and Latrell
Sprewell get so much defensive attention that Cassell has a lot of
room to operate.

with the Wiz, Arenas' shooting percentage took a turn for the

Arenas can score; he still averaged 19.2 per game last season, and
nailed 125 threes on the year. Arenas averages almost two steals
and more than five assists a game as well. The Wizards need
someone to take control of their free-form offense (both Arenas and
Larry Hughes shot less than 40 percent less season, and the enigmatic
Kwame Brown was the team's best inside threat), and it
remains to be seen if Arenas can take that next step as a player
and as a leader. But for fantasy purposes, if you can absorb the low
shooting percentage, Arenas will help you across the board.

and we have a BG sighting!!

gasol + nash for me in L2

Pau Gasol (MEM) - The first week of the Athens Olympics, Pau
Gasol was a force of nature, an irresistable combination of
European basketball savvy and the NBA inside power game, drilled
into his head by Hubie Brown. He led Spain to an undefeated
record in the preliminaries and a date with the much-maligned
Team USA in the opener of the medal round. He started the way he
played in the prelims - like a player ready to move into the pantheon
of power forwards, with the Duncans and Garnetts. Then, in
the second half, he absolutely disappeared, and Spain went out
with a whimper and a lot of finger pointing directed at Larry Brown.
There's a lesson in there, somewhere, about Pau Gasol and his
future in the NBA. His talent is unquestioned. what he appears to
lack is the confidence and the will to take over a game. That apparent
lack of killer instinct - combined with Hubie Brown's 10-deep
sub patterns which limit his minutes - will continue to keep Gasol
out of the top tier of fantasy power forwards.

neo and jbahseng are up.

6 hour clock starts on jbahseng (I still don't know if I'm supposed to pick for him).
