that leaves jbahseng with... the offspring of ET and Mrs. Potatohead... your favorite NBA alien... that's right, the Troy Hudson career and DS draft killer...

Sam Cassell!!! (ranked #17 by yahoo and available at #32... nice pickup)

ranked based on last year's stats. No way Cassell has as good a year, plus he's losing a step.

you never know, it's not like he's a human being so maybe different laws of nature apply. maybe on mars you get better with age.

btw, is it 3 bench spots or 2? both leagues are set differently

you should all just quit now. you don't have a chance, because now I have...

Rashard Lewis (SEA) - Lewis only keeps getting better, as he
produced another solid fantasy season last year. For a player his
size, Lewis is a great three-point shooter. Plus, Lewis scores a
bunch of points and pulls down his share of rebounds. Playing in a
fast paced Sonics' offense doesn't hurt either. With virtually no
prospect of losing playing time and still some untapped upside,
Lewis should be a good value in the third or fourth round. He'll also
have eligibility at the four spot in some leagues, further adding to
his value.

and

Rasheed Wallace (DET) - It seemed like a marriage made in
hell... one of the NBA's most well-known agitators and an old-
school, no-nonsense coach who preaches the game "as it should
be played." So, of course, they rolled through the playoffs and
knocked off the prohibitive favorites, and the agitator signed a fiveyear
extension. On talent alone, 'Sheed makes the top ten among
NBA fours. His ability to score inside and outside is rare among big
men, and he's a perfect fit in Detroit's share-the-ball, no-stars system.
In fact, his (somewhat shocking) willingness to be part of that
winning system is the reason he's ranked lower than some of the
others on this list - while it helps his team win, it won't necessarily
pad his stats.

Richard Jefferson (NJ) - The Nets have decided to rebuild in
the offseason, trading away both Kerry Kittles and Kenyon Martin
for just future draft picks. The departure of those two players
should give Jefferson all the shot attempts he needs to score 23-25
points per game, but those extra opportunities will come at the cost
of his field goal percentage. Moreover, Jason Kidd's injury will hurt
Jefferson early on, as he won't receive the ball in optimal position
to score, and the Nets won't be as likely to get out on the break.
Still, Jefferson will play huge minutes and take plenty of shots, so
his scoring, (and probably his rebound) numbers should be up.

Antawn Jamison (WAS) - Buried behind Antoine Walker and
Dirk Nowitzki on the Mavericks' depth chart last season, Jamison
disappointed a lot of fantasy owners. As a result, his move to the
nation's capital has largely gone under the radar in the flurry of offseason
moves, and this could lead to a nice buying opportunity at
your auction or draft. Jamison is more than capable of averaging
18-20 points and 8-to-10 rebounds alongside Gilbert Arenas and
Larry Hughes on the Wizards, and he'll shoot a nice percentage as
well.

I'm thinking there may not be a WS game 6 on Sat, but the draft will still be on at 7:30 EST / 4:30 PST

Dwyane Wade (MIA) - The Wade-to-Shaq combination should
rack up points early and often this year in Miami, so Wade's assist
totals should go way up with lots of dumps inside to the big guy.
When defenses collapse on O'Neal, Wade is explosive enough to
score on his own, and should improve on last year's average of
16.2 ppg. Wade can give you 4-5 rebounds a game as well, which
is a nice bonus from the point guard position, and he racks up
about a steal and a half per game. Wade showed great maturity and
leadership ability for a rookie last year, and he should work together
with Shaq very well on a team that finished last season on a major
hot streak. Grab him if you can.

Bust
Richard Jefferson has spent the last several
seasons as an excellent third option on a competitive team.
Unfortunately for RJ, his old running buddies won't be there for him
this season - Kenyon Martin is in Denver, Kerry Kittles is in Los
Angeles - and ringleader Jason Kidd won't play until Thanksgiving
at the earliest. Without Martin to draw defenses and start the break
with his rebounding, we expect the entire Nets offense to take a
serious hit - and Jefferson's stats are likely to suffer the most.

I don't understand the logic... he goes from a 3rd option to the #1 guy and now he's a bust? Talk about smoking something...

i don't understand the logic either, but that's what "they" are saying. of course, "they" said this about Yao:

Yao Ming (HOU) - Yao has the talent to be the best. We?re concerned
that he doesn't have the attitude. A player with his size and
his Kevin McHale-style moves should score more than he does,
should draw more fouls, should dominate. We just don't see it happening
- and the arrival of Tracy McGrady is just another reason for
Yao to defer. He's a very good player, no doubt, but we?re begining
to think he won't be as great as he should be.

the path to greatness sometimes involves defying convention!

a special shoutout to the BG for keeping it moving.
Yo this is BG, I take Antoine Walker and Carlos Boozer.

Antoine Walker (ATL) - Let's tally this up - take one of the
league's most notorious chuckers. Put him on a team with virtually
no other options on offense. The result? Your team getting pummelled
in shooting percentage. 'Toine might post a career-high in
scoring this year, and he's an excellent source of assists from the
power forward spot. But he might also shoot about twenty-five percent
and lead the league in shots. Will it make the Hawks more
entertaining? Absolutely. Do you want him on your fantasy squad?
Only if you can take the hit in both FG AND FT percentage.

Carlos Boozer (UTA) - First, let's set aside the question of
Boozer's arrival as a member of the Utah Jazz. Most fantasy
leagues don't award points for "integrity in contract negotiations"
anyway. Instead, let's concentrate on the matter at hand - Carlos
Boozer is an absolutely perfect fit for this team. He plays the game
right. He's very smart. He will sacrifice his body and play hard every
minute. He will cover the glass. Utah will have a lot of options on
offense, which could hurt Boozer's scoring... but he should make
up for it in boards.

neo, you're up

Drat. :brokenheart:

I think it stings more in a slow draft like this, where we have more time to think about an upcoming pick, and kinda get our heart set on a guy, hoping he falls. In a fast-paced live draft, that doesn't happen as much.

I need someone to buy me a .

Kenyon Martin (DEN) - Ah, K-Mart. Fierce competitor. Fiery
leader. Awesome finisher on the break. You will be sorely missed by
the fans at the Meadowlands - all seven of them. You will form a
highly imposing front line in Denver, with Nene, Marcus Camby and
Carmelo Anthony. Unfortunately, you will be hard-pressed to equal
last year's averages of 16.7 points and 9.5 boards because you will
not have Jason Kidd to feed you on the break, and you will be
going up against the Duncans and Garnetts, and not the Kenny
Thomases and Drew Goodens every night.

I think you need a few more PF on your team!

I was thinking of doing a half-way draft recap, but that's still over 30 picks away in each league.

Hope you can all make it Sat!
