Medvedenko is back too... so many sucky Lakers to choose from.

I just love game recaps liket this:
But Memphis finally pulled the pieces together Wednesday night as Pau Gasol scored 22 points and Shane Battier added 18 and the Grizzlies won for the first time this season, a 110-87 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kobe Bryant had 20 points on 4-for-19 shooting for the Lakers, who shot 37 percent.

``It was a tough night for us as a unit,'' Bryant said. ``I can go off solo and get 50 or 60 points on these guys, but that doesn't mean we're going to win.''

Bryant's misses included three airballs in the third quarter when he hit only one of eight shots. He sat out the fourth quarter. The Lakers are in the midst of playing four road games in five nights, and there was little Bryant could do down the stretch to salvage the performance.

Memphis controlled Bryant by rotating three defenders, mainly Battier and Jones, on him.
I wonder when Kobe is going to wake up and realize how screwed he his. He thinks he can score 60 even when shooting .210 from the floor facing triple teams.

They're not even fun to watch anymore. I take that back, it was fun to watch Utah beat them.

Guess who's back? back again? BG's back, Stark likes men

p.s. League 2 is mine. League 1 is probably mine as well. Drafting Antoine Walker = pure brilliance.

holy jeez. Ray Allen and Steve Francis are having incredible seasons, this was the plan for my team last year! If only things had gone to plan... G. Arenas too!

Week2 recap and analysis: trying to make sense of it all.

So far, I like having two teams. It?s a lot harder than last year where I had one ?main? team to focus on and three other ?non-$? teams in various leagues. After two weeks, my head is finally starting to recover from that hell-like draft and things are starting to make sense. Unfortunately, the picture coming in to focus is pretty ugly where my teams are concerned.

In trying to find a way to explain my teams and explain why they?ve been playing like the illegitimate offspring the San Antonio Silver Stars and the Crumb-town Bulls, I came up with the following breakdown?

Week 2 breakdown
Neo 2, Stark 0
Kev 1, CPA 1
DS 1, jbahseng 1
Storm 1, keelin 1
RC 2, gleong 0
Prodigy 1, BG 1

Week 1
Kev 2, Stark 0
Neo 1, jbahseng 1
Keelin 2, DS, 0
Storm 2, gleong 0
RC 1, BG 1
Prodigy 1.5 CPA .5

Overall
Kev 3
Storm 3
RC 3
Neo 3
Keelin 3
Prodigy 2.5
Jbahseng 2
BG 2
CPA 1.5
DS 1
gleong 0
Stark 0

Conclusion: I suck. Really, really suck. Welcome to the morning after. Nobody said repeating would be easy, but I didn?t think I?d be in the Laker-like ?elite to playoff bubble? team category quite this soon. Seriously, even the Hawks got a win before me (even if it was by just one point against the New Orleans Horrible-nets. Nice decision there, Byron. Hope you?re still renting).

The best managers according to this advanced scientific analysis so far are Kev, Storm, RC, Neo, and Keelin. They are the Mavs, Sonics, Jazz, and Spurs of the early season, all with only one loss each (they can fight it out over which teams represent them).

Let?s look at one of those four teams (note: most of this was written Monday morning).

Kev?s Outs
Looking at kev?s teams, I honestly don?t know how he?s in eliteville (well, other than his two wins against me). In league 1 he has Kobe, who has been a monster with almost 30 more FTM than the #2 guy (Dirk) AND he?s shooting them with a .868 percentage. He?s also leading the league in PTS, is rebounding better than Lebron, and has as many blocks as Yao. Kev picked up Korver from the FA trash pile, which is where the guy will end up eventually as his minutes drop from 30+ to his normal 20+.

Think about that for a second? the second best guy on Kev?s L1 team right now is Kyle Korver! This guy does only one thing? shoot 3?s? and has been able to launch all he wants because the Sixers don?t have anyone else that can shoot from outside. NO WAY he keeps it up once McKie and Robinson come back and he turns into Josh Davis Jr.

Back to looking at this team?
AI, RIP and ?Melo all have over 50 FGM already.
Kobe has more FTM (92) than AI (55) and ?Melo (36) COMBINED.
7 guys are shooting FTs over .800.
Korver, Kobe, Marbury, and AI all have at least 10 3PTM apiece.
4 guys are shooting 3?s at better than .400 (including Shareef at .677).
Kobe has 226 PTS and 5 others have at least 100.

With all those shots going up, Kev?s FG% is a weakness and the lack of skilled big bodies will guarantee a tough time in the REB and BLK categories.

Conclusion: Kobe is good but Kev?s second best guy is Korver. That?s just not going to get it done in the long run. I may be bad so far, but there?s still hope.

Over in L2, Ray Allen (the anti-Kobe) is having an even better year than his nemesis. Dude is shooting .600 from behind the arc! He has made the most 3s in the league and strokes them nearly twice as well as Shaq shoots FTs!

Jamison has taken Stack?s minutes in DC and turned them into a nice fantasy stat sheet. Stoudamire is having another nice year as Van Exel has been relegated to the 20 minute backup PG role. Jim Jackson has been outstanding, shooting 40% from both the field and behind the 3 pt. line, his FT% is above .900 and he gets 5 boards, 4 assists, and a steal every night. So THAT?s where all Yao?s numbers went this season! Oh, and GP still sucks! He may have had a few good games in beantown, but he?s still ranked 100 for the season and that?s with everyone giving him praise for keeping that team together. Just wait ?till they fall out of playoff contention. You may as well call Bogans ?Nick Anderson in crunch time? for those two missed free throws to help the Jazz complete a 22 point comeback the other night. Personally, I would have dropped him for it. The rest of the team? Some big names, but not much to show for them yet.

That?s enough team analysis, now for a breakdown of who you wish you would have drafted this year if you want to earn points in the league stat categories?

FGM
1. Ray Allen
2. Dirk
3. Amare (turning into a legitimate 1st round pick, props to jbah who I though was crazy when he drafted him that early)
4. Antoine ?the bricklayer? Walker (how someone can make so many shots from the floor and yet miss so many free throws is beyond me)
5. Boozer

FG% (minimum 20 FGM)
1. Hassell
2. Haslem
3. Haywood
4. Mikki Morre
5. McDyess

FG% (minimum 20 FGM and guys who you might actually want on your team)
1. Gasol
2. Boozer
3. Amare
4. Chris Wilcox
5. Bobby Simmons

FTM
1. Kobe
2. Kobe
3. Dirk
4. Amare
5. Maggette
6. AI

FT% (minimum 25 FTM)
1. Bobby Simmons
2. Ron the Rapper Artest
3. Derek Fisher
4. Jalen Rose
5. Ray Allen

3PTM
1. Ray Allen
2. Damon Jones (thanks everyone, for not snatching him up when I panicked and went developed Boykins-syndrome)
3. Kyle Korver
4. Skip to my Lou Alston
5. Rashard Lewis

3PT% (minimum 14 3PTM)
1. Chauncey
2. Joe Johnson
3. Dirk
4. Jason Terry
5. Mike Bibby

PTS
1. Kobe
2. Dirk
3. Ray Allen
4. Amare
5. AI

REB
1. KG
2. Shaq
3. Duncan
4. Dirk
5. Dwight Howard

ST
1. Larry Hughes
2. Ginobili!
3. Jason Terry
4. Lebron
5. Devin Harris

BLK
1. AK47
2. Theo Huckstable
3. Shaq
4. Zo ?kidney in the front? Mourning
5. Jermaine O

A/T (Let me just preface this to say that as the owner of Steve Nash, I HATE this category. Next year it?s going to be ASST as a category and A/T as a category. Players ranked 150 or better)
1. PJ Brown (enough evidence to show how dumb this category is)
2. Greg Buckner
3. Antonio Daniels
4. Eric Snow
5. Damon Stoudamire

EJCT (anyone but these guys)
1. Kmart
2. Cassell
3. McDyess
4. Andre Miller
5. Antonio Daniels

Finally, here are the guys I wish I would have taken in the draft for at least one of my teams.
1. Dirk
2. Allen
3. AK-47
4. Amare
5. Chauncey
6. Jim Jackson
7. Wade
8. Grant Hill
9. Arenas
10. Boozer

So there you have it? 4 teams have shown they?re good, and my teams stink. However if more people don?t send in their gift cards soon, my chances of victory may jump significantly! So far I have a better chance of winning something than 50% of you!

nice recap as always, but why did you have to pick on my teams? bitter about the 2-0 whooping?

Just thought I'd defend myself a little, you said I would be in trouble in REB and BLK, but I don't expect to ever win either of those categories. I tried having balanced teams the past 2 years but I would always be one injury away from non-contention. So when I made my draft sheet I essentially eliminated those categories from even existing and then ranked using my own method which emphasised scoring (doing this put KG down around 13th, don't even ask about Duncan). You'll see when my master plan comes together at the end... I didn't name my teams "Lights Out" for nothing.

Oh and Korver definitely ain't the 2nd best on my team, and I think he's going to continue to improve. Robinson is outta here (he can't play D while Korver is one of our better defenders). Besides Yahoo is really stupid the way it does rankings... I think he gets too much weight for the 3PTM.

Ok so who did send their gift card in?

Maybe next year we have to sent it in before we draft?

We also definitely need Assists and the A/T turnover category back next year.

Also wtf is Bobby Simmons going for 30?

Check out Korver's stat line for tonight. 38 minutes... heheh. I guess he needs to be in there when these assholes (the Sixers) only manage to put up 6 points in 12 minutes of basketball. It is disgusting that these guys get paid so much for something like that.

I told you Amare is the real deal! Too bad my other picks didn't work up as well. Elton Brand and Vince Carter had been dissapointed. And Gerald Wallace earn another ejection for me.

Kev,

So what's the word with Dalembert? Is he going to regain is starting job anytime soon? I'm considering trading for him in another league.

Well he can't play offense worth a lick, and the Sixers always seem to be playing from behind. If they get ahead he is in there but just for a defensive presence in the paint. Also, he apparently hasn't gotten a grasp of the new defensive system anyway, so I would hold off on him
