Week2 recap and analysis: trying to make sense of it all.
So far, I like having two teams. It?s a lot harder than last year where I had one ?main? team to focus on and three other ?non-$? teams in various leagues. After two weeks, my head is finally starting to recover from that hell-like draft and things are starting to make sense. Unfortunately, the picture coming in to focus is pretty ugly where my teams are concerned.
In trying to find a way to explain my teams and explain why they?ve been playing like the illegitimate offspring the San Antonio Silver Stars and the Crumb-town Bulls, I came up with the following breakdown?
Week 2 breakdown
Neo 2, Stark 0
Kev 1, CPA 1
DS 1, jbahseng 1
Storm 1, keelin 1
RC 2, gleong 0
Prodigy 1, BG 1

Conclusion: I suck. Really, really suck. Welcome to the morning after. Nobody said repeating would be easy, but I didn?t think I?d be in the Laker-like ?elite to playoff bubble? team category quite this soon. Seriously, even the Hawks got a win before me (even if it was by just one point against the New Orleans Horrible-nets. Nice decision there, Byron. Hope you?re still renting).
The best managers according to this advanced scientific analysis so far are Kev, Storm, RC, Neo, and Keelin. They are the Mavs, Sonics, Jazz, and Spurs of the early season, all with only one loss each (they can fight it out over which teams represent them).
Let?s look at one of those four teams (note: most of this was written Monday morning).
Kev?s Outs
Looking at kev?s teams, I honestly don?t know how he?s in eliteville (well, other than his two wins against me). In league 1 he has Kobe, who has been a monster with almost 30 more FTM than the #2 guy (Dirk) AND he?s shooting them with a .868 percentage. He?s also leading the league in PTS, is rebounding better than Lebron, and has as many blocks as Yao. Kev picked up Korver from the FA trash pile, which is where the guy will end up eventually as his minutes drop from 30+ to his normal 20+.
Think about that for a second? the second best guy on Kev?s L1 team right now is Kyle Korver! This guy does only one thing? shoot 3?s? and has been able to launch all he wants because the Sixers don?t have anyone else that can shoot from outside. NO WAY he keeps it up once McKie and Robinson come back and he turns into Josh Davis Jr.
Back to looking at this team?
AI, RIP and ?Melo all have over 50 FGM already.
Kobe has more FTM (92) than AI (55) and ?Melo (36) COMBINED.
7 guys are shooting FTs over .800.
Korver, Kobe, Marbury, and AI all have at least 10 3PTM apiece.
4 guys are shooting 3?s at better than .400 (including Shareef at .677).
Kobe has 226 PTS and 5 others have at least 100.
With all those shots going up, Kev?s FG% is a weakness and the lack of skilled big bodies will guarantee a tough time in the REB and BLK categories.
Conclusion: Kobe is good but Kev?s second best guy is Korver. That?s just not going to get it done in the long run. I may be bad so far, but there?s still hope.
Over in L2, Ray Allen (the anti-Kobe) is having an even better year than his nemesis. Dude is shooting .600 from behind the arc! He has made the most 3s in the league and strokes them nearly twice as well as Shaq shoots FTs!
Jamison has taken Stack?s minutes in DC and turned them into a nice fantasy stat sheet. Stoudamire is having another nice year as Van Exel has been relegated to the 20 minute backup PG role. Jim Jackson has been outstanding, shooting 40% from both the field and behind the 3 pt. line, his FT% is above .900 and he gets 5 boards, 4 assists, and a steal every night. So THAT?s where all Yao?s numbers went this season! Oh, and GP still sucks! He may have had a few good games in beantown, but he?s still ranked 100 for the season and that?s with everyone giving him praise for keeping that team together. Just wait ?till they fall out of playoff contention. You may as well call Bogans ?Nick Anderson in crunch time? for those two missed free throws to help the Jazz complete a 22 point comeback the other night. Personally, I would have dropped him for it. The rest of the team? Some big names, but not much to show for them yet.
That?s enough team analysis, now for a breakdown of who you wish you would have drafted this year if you want to earn points in the league stat categories?

1. PJ Brown (enough evidence to show how dumb this category is)
2. Greg Buckner
3. Antonio Daniels
4. Eric Snow
5. Damon Stoudamire
EJCT (anyone but these guys)
1. Kmart

So there you have it? 4 teams have shown they?re good, and my teams stink. However if more people don?t send in their gift cards soon, my chances of victory may jump significantly! So far I have a better chance of winning something than 50% of you!
