270 wins in 18 years. average of 15 wins per season. one 20 win season in his last season. 17 times with more than 10 wins, 2nd all time amongst AL pitchers. 57 complete games and 23 shut outs. finishes 270-153 with a 3.68 ERA in 536 starts. doesn't have a ring.

so what do yall think?

Yes. A championship isn't a must to get into HoF and longevity can be a feat on its own.

It's borderline, but I lean towards HoF. In his prime he was tossing up knuckle-curves that made people look silly. People say his 3.68 ERA is high... dude pitched entirely within the steroid/juiced ball blah blah era... a lot of great pitchers are going to have this knock on them. He was also in the American League predominantly.

My guess is he won't get in for many years on the ballot though. Shame, was great to watch in Baltimore there... sick stuff.

true, but being clutch in the post-season can make a difference in an arguable case.

He was a solid, smart pitcher. If anything he showed this past year how pitching is all about mechanics and not brute velocity.

Edit: and not to mention he won seven gold gloves as well.

So did Pedro Martinez and his ERA is something like 2.9 or so (off the top of my head). If i had a vote though, I'd opt in for Mussina

A wise man once said, if you need to ask whether a guy deserves to be in the HOF then he probably doesn't.

werd.

Now, personally for me, he doesn't stand out in my mind as someone who had a very special baseball career. Last year was his ONLY year in which he attained 20 wins and he did it for a very good offensive team, even if said team had an "off" year. In 18 years of baseball, just once did he get 20 wins. Sure then that would mean he has been pretty consistent his entire career. I'll credit him for his consistency! But that credit isn't enough to buy him a ticket into the HOF.
