His political views are entirely incompatible with those of the Democratic Party, so he wouldn't want to join them and they wouldn't want to take him.

And changing party affiliation doesn't make you invulnerable to any crazy violent people out there in the country who might wish to do you harm - so it wouldn't solve his problem anyway.

I suppose Pence's plight does raise the issue of whether the Republican Party might eventually fracture. It seems like an increasingly-unstable coalition. Not sure where Pence fits in to it though. He seems more of a hard-line religious conservative than a plutocrat, and the fault-line, as far as I can tell, is between globalist free-marketeer plutocrats and those motivated primarily by nativism and racism. I don't understand the Republcans well enough to make sense of it or guess how it's going to develop.

No Kamala/Pence ticket would ever happen. Kamala wants nothing to do with Pence and Pence wants nothing to do with Kamala.
People don’t change their vote based upon the VP choice
Excitement would be lost amungst liberals with Pence on the ticket and Pence is not exciting enough to attract conservative voters to vote for Kamala.
No changing parties doesn’t mean he will be safe or live somewhere more protected.

I gather that under the original system envisaged by the Founders (winner becomes President, runner-up becomes VP), we'd now have President Biden with Vice President Trump. After four years of a Trump-Clinton administration.


Just fortunate it seems to have been a bit easier to pass amendments back in the early 19thC, or maybe you'd still be stuck with that system. I really don't think those Founder dudes were as far-seeing as their reputation would have it.
