"Thermaltake has now demanded that MikeWarrior close down his website mikewarrior.freeservers.com, or be sued, because Thermaltake does not like the test results, that
include thermaltake coolers, posted on his site. I find his information to be accurate, truthful and inline with results I have previously gotten and those of some other enlightened sites. Who will be next? How many of you are going to tolerate behavior like this? It threatens the entire concept of legitimate product reviews. It would also seem that Thermaltake has a PR mole operating under the name NateDog on Anandtech forums(and probably elsewhere) that is spreading misinformation. He denied being a Thermaltake employee but his IP was traced back to Thermaltake's domain."

Did you post anything about this here in the forums??? Or, is this a sensitive matter you'd rather not discuss?

edit: IMHO, Thermaltake is wrong. Numbers don't lie, and if the numbers show that their coolers don't measure up, then they need to do something about it besides doing the Rambus routine.

What could possibly be their case. Someone did an independant review and it showed their product to be not as good as they say it is. He did not claim to be representing any other company that sells heat sink/fan's and he used various other brands. It is an independant review. If this was illegal ever website that does reviews would have to shut down. I think it is a scare tactic more than anything.

Jay, The problem is that in the USA, you can sue anyone for anything, and it is up to you to hire a lawyer to defend yourself, or you lose.

And the person pushing the frivolous lawsuit does not have to pay your legal fee's if you do get a lawyer, and the judge laughs the plaintiff out of court.

It would be nice if Mike could take them to court, and they had to pay his legal fees as well as a HUGE fine for attempting to violate the U.S. costitution.

Yeah right about that. Justice system needs some tweaking. Shouldn't have to go to court unless there is a case.

If Compaq would sue everyone that said some bad things about their PC's .....
Instead of this 'I haven't got a case but I'll sue you anyway' bullsh*t, they better put their efforts into something else.

If (a BIG if!) they can prove that MikeWarrior is wrong with his results I am sure that MW would post Thermaltake's result on his page.

If I was wrong, i would immediately pull the results. I have no problem if something I did was incorrect, but I am 99.999% sure that the tests are effective, especially the p3 diode versus thermistor tests.

What's kinda funny is that thermaltake posts their heatsink C/W on their page(.82 for C-orb, .66 or so for the S-orb)... Figure in 60W for the average overclocked t-bird, adn you have some really warm CPU temps.

Mike
P.S. They wanted me to shutdown the site because I was "slandering" thermaltake.

Have you asked them to point out on your site where you are slandering them? I don't think it's considered slander when you have facts and scientific test results from their products. I doubt they would have any evidence of slander if you were to ask them that question.

instead of Thermaltake call it "Thermal-take" that is diffrent, could be a product u made in ur backyard...who knows...they cant proov it. Kinda like the promise card mods, they wouldnt let them use the name promise on the mod pages, so just use a diffrent word

On the bright side, at last Arctic Silver won't be suing you! (I couldn't resist that one)

They want to see if they can bully you into line. For what it's worth, I'm behind you. And thanks for the time and effort it took to bring the information to us. It helps immensely.

How about Thermal-Fake?

Again,

Thanks for all the support.

AdamK47 - 3DS,
I've had no further contact from them other than the e-mail "telling" me to shut down my page.

Mikewarrior,

Your numbers are virtually the same as mine, in fact my numbers are higher then yours! That forced me to pick up a FOP32-1 last week, which fortunately dropped my numbers. I would not recommend the C-orb or G-orb to anyone overclocking their CPU?s, more so if you live in a warm area like I do (Hawaii).

Don?t let them get to you, they have nothing against you, if more then one person on this board can prove your numbers are obtainable, yet worst then yours, there is nothing they can do!

I?m sure a lot of use here would be glad to share our numbers with you, I know I would!

What about "they care about making stuff that works, we care about rating it" instead of "They care to decide who can rate the *cough*product*cought* they make"?

Tongboy,

The IP on the e-mail was checked when i got it.. I dont' have it because I had to do an emergency format on my system.

Why do you say this is something Thermaltake won't do? They've threatened Millisec for a long time now, way before the whole socket-a temp issue was brought up.

And on the topic of your review, did you seal the peltier? Did you use a "slug" sized heat-connector? In order for that test to be truly testing 58W, it needs to be a completely insulated peltier and a p4-sized "slug" for contact.

Mike is great, he knows what he is talking about. WAAAHHHH for thermaltake if they cant take what Mike has to say about their products. What is next some fancy schmancy resturant suing the newspaper resturant critic for a review? Whiny crying babeis Thermaltake. Mike's tests make sense to me, he opened a lot of peoples eyes with USEFUL information.
