35 Pistol - used as a second weapon system and in confined spaces or where a "long" weapon is unsuitable. Sig and Glock have mostly replaced the Browning 9mm calibre

They didn't mean it was a 1935 model pistol. That's a very modern pistol in the picture.

My grandma has a WWI spoon that belonged to my great granddad. Same as the one in the first pic. Still uses it too. Apparently it's the perfect measure for making instant custard. Don't know where the knife and fork went.

Not sure how you embed an image. Basically has each item laid out on on a cloth or on the ground. shows armor, weapons, clothing, tools, mess kits, entertainment, personal effects, etc.

According to the reddit thread: 60-80lbs for just the armor, guns, ammo and water. So that + whatever their rucksack weighs. Probably another 60-80lbs I'd guess.

120-160lbs total? That's fucking insane. I bitch and moan when I carry more than 40lbs while backpacking, much less being in combat.

Actually I think he was referring to the one in the picture. The Browning Hi Power was introduced in 1935 and still in service around the world.

Looks about right. I realized one time when I was packing for a month long field exercise that the US Army has too many damn types of headwear. This was several years back, so in terms of headwear I managed to pack the following:

1) Patrol cap (square, baseball looking camo hat for field wear)
2) Beret (thank God that's pretty much gone finally)
3) Black watch cap (still the standard at that point for PT uniform)
4) Gray/green fleece cap (the new standard for cold weather wear in fatigues)
5) Combat helmet (AKA ACH for non armored vehicle wear)
6) Crewman's vehicle helmet (AKA CVC for wear inside our M1117 armored security vehicles)

Yes, I packed every one of them and had to wear every single one at least once during the exercise.

The 1916 kit includes a small mace introduced 3,500 years before World War 1. Modern armaments got nothing on a spiked metal club.
