Military Standings: DEFCON 3 THREATCON Delta

this question is being asked, so I thought I would take a minute to give what I know, I have talked with my father a military man, he has given me the fallowing information as to the alert condition of the military.

as of right now from his and my understanding the United states military is at DEFCON 3, if you are unfamilure with the DEFCON system this is how it lays out:
DEFCON 5 Normal peacetime readiness
DEFCON 4 Normal, increased intelligence and strengthened security measures
DEFCON 3 Increase in force readiness above normal readiness
DEFCON 2 Further Increase in force readiness, but less than maximum readiness
DEFCON 1 Maximum force readiness.

as of right now, from his and my understanding the United States military is at THREATCON DELTA the highest threat alert the military has.

I would think highest would be a direct military attack on homeland with 100% probability of continued attacks and that hasn't happened.

Defcon is different then threatcon, defcon is defense condition, threatcon is threat condition. we are at the highest threat condition, we are at the middle defense condition. you dont want the defcon at 1, thats when hell breaks loose, and you can kiss your ass goodbye. I hope that explains it better.

No, they were at Defcon 2 back then... or at least that's what it was at in the movie Thirteen Days (about the Cuban Missile crisis... damn good movie).

To clear things up, SAC, 82nd, 101, and navy seals, and some other ppl were on DefCon 2. Everyone else was on 3, I think.

In IRC, I was asking, "What is DefCon at?", and ppl were like, Delta. Took me 20 min to finally find out...and my guess was right
