Huh? We buy Organic specifically because it does keep so long. Just bought a half gallon earlier this week that has an expiration date nearly 6 weeks out. My wife prefers whole milk, to we get whole Organic. We're not big milk drinkers here so with the long shelf life, we aren't throwing milk away like we used to.

I find that Organic milk may sit on the shelves longer because of the price so you have to pay attention to the dates. I regularly see expiration dates at or exceeding 4 weeks out.

My understanding is that it's double pasteurized which gives it the long shelf life. I may be incorrect on that because a quick search in that regard is coming up empty.

Edit: Ah, not double pasteurized but,
Ultra-Pasteurization

Sometimes I'll buy half-and-half, just to enjoy it in small shot-glass-sized portions.

Whole milk here. Anything else tastes too diluted.

'Cause you're used to it. I'm used to NF now, I'm pushing away the butterfat.

I was just eating some cereal, and contemplating milk, wondering what everybody else gets. I buy 2% because I get on kicks where I drink a lot, but other times not so much. The 2% keeps longer than whole before it goes bad. I'd get organic whole milk, but it costs too much, and goes bad quicker.
NFDM in my experience doesn't go bad. There's no spoiling issue until you reconstitute it. I do that as needed. I don't usually make a quart, but just what I'm about to use. They say it tastes better when you mix it up and let it sit overnight in the refrigerator but I'm not convinced that this is true. I only mix it up ahead of time sometimes for convenience sake.

I was pretty sure the official milk of ATOT is a floppy bag of homo milk.

Skim for me. The wife drinks Whole. I thought whole was generally used just for cooking. Must be a southern thing.

I usually get whole, but I don't mind 2%. Whole just tastes awesome.

My spoilage issue isn't in regards to the organic. I don't buy that style due to the cost(very little money lately). It seems the higher fat content milk goes off sooner than the lesser fat styles. I've used 2% as much as a week(or more with a very full jug) past the expiration. In my experience, whole milk has to be used by the expiration. You may get an extra day or 2 if your lucky, but it doesn't keep much past that.

organic cow of vermont - older people say this is how milk used to be. the 2% is still richer than the average whole milk.

organic skim. I don't usually go crazy buying organic stuff, but I do get it for milk.

You forgot to list dog's milk in your poll. We ran out of cow's milk yonks ago, so now we're on the emergency backup supply of dog's milk. Nothing wrong with dog's milk. Full of goodness, full of vitamins, full of marrowbone jelly. Lasts longer than any other milk, dog's milk.
