In school they used an overhead projector with clear transparencies. I guess that makes me an millennial too.

And had to copy everything down on paper by hand and try to keep up with the teacher. Fun fun. I so don't miss those days haha. Students now days with their newfangled smart boards and school supplied ipads do not know our struggles!

It's "roll call," not "role call."

I make the same stupid fucking mistake, you stupid fucking millennials.

*grumble grumble

At least I'm not a stupid fucking millennial though. Thank the lord Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and God almighty. Amen something or other.
Holy shit I'm stupid.
Oh, I'm sorry OP - were you looking for a safe space?
nope, not really.

I was there for that too

I remember playing Runescape, making a FB in middle school and playing farmville, playing outside until the street lights came on.

I think that puts you in Gen X, since they did that in the 80's and early 90's at my high school. Once I got the college, they switched over to PowerPoint slides and an SVGA projector.

I think we should separate ourselves dependent on what consoles we grew up with. For me, my first console was the PS2.

I kinda saw a transition. I remember in kindergarden when it was nap time, they played some music on a record. I remember the record player was on the counter in front of the window and the sun reflected on the record and I just liked to look at the moving reflection on the wall. Cassettes would have been out at that time, and record players were probably mostly all on their way out but guess that teacher just liked using it. Odd I still even remember that.

Then overhead projectors were used for overheads when I hit grades where you have to start doing actual school work, and music related stuff was cassettes. Then in high school computers were starting to be more prelevant and now it was mostly powerpoint for overheads. in media arts class video stuff was still VHS. Digital cameras were starting to surface though but we mostly used DV tapes. We MAY have played with burning video DVDs at some point, CDs would have been used too at some point.

Speaking of school tech, anyone remember those giant green overheads that could project a non transparent piece of paper? Like you could put a book or anything under it and it would project it. I always thought those were some kind of voodoo magic and I still do. How in the world did those work? With today's tech it would be easy to think it's just a camera with a projector, but this was OLD tech, like even at the time. These machines were pretty big and always on a cart. Classic light green colour, probably 70's tech. They never took this machine out all that often though.

As far as consoles, for me it was mostly the NES and SNES. Pretty much grew up with those. My parents had a small TV in their room and that's where I played, eventually the TV got moved to another room. Some times I was allowed to hook it up to the 32" and that was like the most incredible thing. Like if I had a sleep over or something. Ahhhh fun times.

Oh yeah, I remember VHS. Our school was one of the Channel One pilot schools, so each room had a 27" TV and a fairly modern (at the time) VCR in it.

The news program wasn't half bad... Anderson Cooper was one of their anchors back then.

Mine was an NES but we had an Atari too. I still have the NES and it works perfectly, along with the Zapper and Power Pad! I also played on my older brother's Amiga (I think it was the 500) whenever he wasn't home; he had a whole ton of games he copied from his friends. My favorite was probably Prince of Persia. This dude from the Elvira game always scared the shit out of me:

I really want to buy an Amiga 500 or 1200. There are lots of hacks out there to make them more usable, and it would be awesome if only for the nostalgia. Those old Psygnosis games had the absolute greatest box art.
