He was simply telling me he understood where all the words I used in my post came from:

1) When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

2) We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

What I quoted comes before the preamble to the Declaration. It simply asserts that as a matter of Natural Law the people have the ability to garner political independence and points out that such independence has to be reasonable and ergo explicable and should be explained.

That is not only self evident but also obvious.

In the context of the OP it would seem we have evolved to the point where the franchise to gain representation equally has been gerrymandered away at best and denied via all manner of schemes at worst.

Lincoln considered what followed the opening sentence of the Declaration to be about human rights. What are human rights? I argue they are what we say they are and therefore denial of voice in the matter denies those rights to those whose silence is created in favor of schism creators.

The bucket of Human Rights is vast but reaching into it is limited to those with the longer arms.

I see it a bit differently. Traditionally our rights were just that, the right to do something. Very seldom (right to council comes to mind) was a right something that cost someone else time or money to provide, only to protect. Now we have a lot of people conflating rights with entitlements. The problem with this is that to provide one person with an entitlement, government must take resources from someone else, infringe on someone else's freedom. Thus as we expand our "rights", we also accept less freedom.
