Yeah, we know that all those regressive taxes you guys love so much like gasoline, alcohol, telephone, airline travel, etc. ensure that the lower class doesn't get out of getting their wallet lightened by Uncle Sam.
Gas taxes pay for auto infrastructure/roads, which otherwise wouldn't be paid for without general tax increases that are both unnecessary and untenable politically. It's a complete no-brainer tax in all heavily trafficked states. Alcohol and cig taxes are both a good way to raise money and a good way to reduce consumption of said items, though alcohol taxes aren't significant in the first place, though cig taxes and the resultant massive decrease in cig use/deaths in the last 20 years clearly speaks to its effectiveness (along with the anti-cig campaigns). Airline taxes/fees pay for security and screening, and literally have no effect on the poor since they don't fly anywhere near what could be considered frequent.
But other than that, yeah, your post was accurate. lol.
