I guess this is a very effective trick/troll to call attention to the fact that affirmative action as implemented today leaves certain poor people out through no fault of their own.

Of course the correct way to solve this problem is not this, but rather a program that would allow all poor people to study for free, and thus disproportionately help blacks since they're poorer due to past segregation, and it will stop benefitting them more than the others only once there is equality of outcomes. In practice as of now it'd be a net transfer of money to blacks, but actuated through a colour-blind and self-correcting mechanism that doesn't create communitarianist views and tensions.
But this is not something we will ever see from a right-wing government, simply because it's social spending.

It's unproductive to protest against something in an admittedly effective way but not have an alternative proposal to simple abolition of affirmative action, given that the consequences of segregation are still present and should be solved in some way. There are alternative ways of course, but it's always going to be money from tax payers to descendants of slaves.

Still, one thing that is wrong about affirmative action is that children of voluntary african immigrants born recently might benefit from it even though it was their parents choice to go to the US as free persons. This should worry african americans as well.
