Is it possible to use mineral oil in a water-cooling setup? It has a lower freezing temp and is nonconductive. Any opinions?

No idea if mineral oil would work, but if you put a little antifreeze in regular water it won't freeze using that setup.

I seem to rember reading an article about just that. I don't rember what web page it was (Anyone?) I'm not sure if you would need a special pump, but I do know that oil isn't the greatest thermial conducter. Other than the pump, (A regular water pump might work.) in the article the person used the same equipment as water cooling. Also you need to make sure your oil is non crosive. Rember plain water is bad enough without antifreeze. Water is much better for a thermial conductor. I have been expermenting with a water cooling setup for awhile and they are more reliable than you think. I haven't had a problem with leaks yet, just rember to use hose clamps. The key is to test your setup before installation and check it every so often. (AKA a window mod is in order) Right now I am custom milling water blocks, if your intersted I can hook you up with one for not too much. (~$20) (Anyone else want one?) The best place for extreme cooling information (Water freon etc.) would be http://www.overclockers.com and http://www.octools.com

Steve at Hypothemia is using mineral oil in a water cooling system. The only concern I have read about is the fact that mineral oil is thicker than water and could cause some extra wear and tear on your pump. He has been running with mineral oil for a couple of weeks now. I'd drop him an email and see if everything is still working well.
