Mini Fridge/Speaker Issue

Hello,

Looking for a little advice, hope you all can help me out. I recently bought a Danby "Beverage Center" to put in my computer room. I just plugged it in last night and I noticed that every time the compressor turned on, my speakers would stop playing sound, though they still had power. None of my other devices were affected. Everything (computer, monitors, headphones, speakers, mini fridge) is plugged in to the same power strip, and it's all on the same 15 amp breaker.

Anyone think they know what the problem is? Any suggestions? Here is a link to the mini fridge:

The refrigerator is probably drawing most of the power and the speakers got none. The 15A breaker hasn't tripped with all that stuff plugged in?

Nope, everything is running fine, except for the speakers.

From this review it appears the USB can drop out from power issues due to other devices.

One thing that happened while testing the speakers is the USB connection would drop (My washing machine made problems for these as well as the Vanatoos.) Whenever the connection dropped and it picked back up the speaker defaulted to 100% volume. There were a few times when I wanted to hit these speakers with a hammer because they started blasting my face off out of the blue. To avoid this problem in your setup you can use the optical connection on the speaker instead of the USB.

I'm not sure if:
1) the power "ripples" are passing through the computer and out the USB port
or
2) the electronics in the speakers themselves are not sufficient to iron out power fluctuations.

At first thought #2 seems more obvious if not for the fact there's also an external 20V transformer/rectifier ("power supply") in between the speakers and the wall which should buffer fluctuations similarly to a computer's PSU.

OP needs to do a bit more experimentation to narrow down issues.

While your speakers may show power, the amplifier that drives them is not getting enough current when the fridge compressor turns on. Easy fix is, run it on a different breaker.
