the problem i find with mini-mobos is that it is difficult to find a decent power supply to suit your needs.

What kind of power supply do you require to suit your needs?

Oh, nothing much... just 500+ W on each rail, fanless, cooler than the southbridge, and all in a micro-atx unit...

They do have small fanless PSU that give you 55 to 60 watts...
for you can use anyother ATX PSU
but the mobo only needs 15-25 watts

Since this is 'a good place to talk about mini itx' maybe some of you can help me find something.

I'm looking into buying the VIA EPIA-M9000 ITX Motherboard for a project.
Physical space is a major issue here so I'm wondering if its possible for an external power supply to be used.
It would need to power a laptop harddrive, laptop optical drive, and the motherboard.
I'm thinking 60 watts? maybe more? i don't really know for sure.

The only external PS that I can find is this one on www.mini-itx.com. But, those power supplies aren't even in stock and havent been for at least a month.

any ideas?

I think 60 Watts will be good
I'm going to be using 60 Watts with the M 10000 and a laptop HD
I have see many please use 60 Watts for the Mobo, laptop HD and laptop CD drive so you should be good
I'll take a look to see if i can find some more PSU (try look on the other forums that i have listed)

If you don't mind me asking whats your project?

Does VIA allow the production of Mini-ITX motherboards for other processors? These tiny motherboards are neat, but those Via C3 processors are dogs.

I think for my purposes, power consumption, noise and heat are more important than speed
ALthough if you see one cheap from a US vendor, post it - I'll look into it.

What are you, some kind of schill?

Not at all - I am just tring to figure out what my fellow computer geeks think of it before I buy, I am looking to find out a little pro vs con about it. I know it doesn't have the horsepower of a normal P4/Athlon PC. If there is a better quite SFF solution for the buck that fits in my stereo rack ,I would buy something else.

Sorry, I see a fairly new member flogging the same product in 2 separate threads, I start thinking you're spamming, but I looked at the rest of your posts and I realize that my assumption was incorrect, and I hereby retract my previous accusation.

Sorry about that

The new Nenimiah core has twice the FPU power of previous models. Starts at a decent 1GHz too.

How much FPS do you think a processor that performs twice as bad as a 1.3Celeron can get?
