Question Mini-PC, But ITX-based

I live in USA.
I have the following:
Fractal Design Define S2 | ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES | AMD Ryzen™ 5 5600G | G.SKILL Ripjaws V 32GB 3200 | WB Black 1TB M.2 | 1x WD Blue 1TB SATA (external)

Now here's what I want to do. I want to give this computer to my Dad. As his Intel i3 2nd gen is sort of lacking in a lot of places.

BUT, I'm into minimizing. But I don't want to go the Mini-pc route, as I heard, it's not easy to upgrade. And if one thing breaks, the whole thing goes in the trash.

I just have to note the irony that your dad's computer could have had its cpu upgraded to an i7, doubling its processors and threads, any time since it was built/bought. (Unless it's a laptop?) Maybe it wouldn't be worthwhile now, but if you didn't upgrade it then why do you think you will upgrade a new computer in the future?

And if one thing breaks, the whole thing goes in the trash.

I tend to have more initial quality problems with builds than with pre-bought computers. Are you nearby to lend tech support?

What does your dad want to do that his current computer isn't up to?

For my mom, I just set her up with a 12th Gen Intel NUC using the i3. Replaced a Haswell-era Pentium system in an mATX case, giving her back a ton of desk space, while also being a general speed upgrade. Plus, it let me throw Windows 11 on it, so software support will be good for some time.

Edit: stupid phone autocorrect making NUC change to "much"

Maybe I'm missing something here but, you're transplanting your setup into another case and giving it to your dad.

Assume you built your own replacement already?

Why not get that for yourself and give your PC to your dad, assuming your current plan is to keep your 5600G and also get another one for your dad. This way, you enter the AM5 world to ride the future with AMD's future CPUs and give your perfectly fine PC to your dad who gets a great upgrade from his current one.

Want upgradability but choose ITX? You are conflicting yourself. and as @igor_kavinski suggested, choose AM5, DDR5 and Micro ATX if you want to stay in AMD camp.
