Oh Lord, another deal on a Minolta laser printer. Just kidding.

Providing the model is not the 1100L, I made buy it from my local Costco. I just hope it is in stock.

I just called the Costco in St. Peters, MO and found out the model sold is the 1100L. I got to think hard on this deal.

No, that's a pretty hot price. Would've been even hotter if it was the 1100 though.

I'd probably get it if I was already a Costco member, but I don't think I want to shell out an additional $45 to become a member.

Yes it is a good deal and a few of us know what is the suppose warranty at Costco. While I got a (free) membership at Costco last year, I have yet purchased electronic from that business.

The problem is that most of us forget how expensive computer crap was just a few years ago. Memory goes up a few $$$ and it big new. I still recall paying over $300 for two 16 MB of FP memory for my PS/1. I was overjoyed, since the price had dropped by over a $100, since I first went shopping on the internet way back then.

How long will the toner last? and much much for replacements? $99 sounds like a good deal for a cheapo laser printer.

The 1100L is the controller-less printer that uses the processor power of your $1,000 PC to replace the $20 internal printer processor chip. Kind of like a POS WinModem.

Spec says it has a Mitsubishi M3807 processor. 1000 has PowerPC 75Hz.

Picked one yesterday at CostCo in Houston. They had plenty there. Seems to me like a good deal for $99.00 + tax after rebate. I didn't try it but the reviews for the printer seems good.

I've been thinking about picking up this printer.

Anyone know how many pages to expect from the initial toner cartridge? TIA

I have this printer and it is nice. Fast as hE|| for a 100$ printer. I have printed close to 1000 sheets of paper and there are no signs of letting down (in terms of ink).

i would definately recommend this printer to anyone. It is also smaller than most lasers which means that us college kids arent forced to bunk our beds to make room for it.

Thanks for the info Hashbrowns.

I see at buy.com a reviewer got about 4000 pages from his 1st toner. I see Minolta makes two toner sizes which they estimate yields 3k & 6K, so I assume they give you a full cartridge.

Question for those who bought one---am I correct in understanding that the output tray is "optional?" (according to the Minolta/QMS webite). So do the pages simply shoot out onto the floor?

And I'm assuming the unit comes with their "low capacity" toner cartridge, not the more expensive "high capacity" cartridge. Has anyone checked?

Well, I ended up getting one on my 1 day pass + AMEX card. Why would I pay for a membership when I can go in any time and get a 1 day pass and use my AMEX to pay for stuff? Maybe they keep track of who they give 1 day passes to?

While browsing around my local Microcenter, I took a look at the toner cartridges. MC wanted $119 and $139 (presumably the low capacity and high capacity)!! Looks like I'll *definitely* be buying these suckers online.

ktg, I haven't opened the box yet but I'll let you know about the output tray.

Thanks for the hot deal motoexpress. Sure glad I didn't have to pay for a membership to do it!

ktg,

I've set up the printer now and I can tell you that there is an output tray, but it spits the pages out upside down. The optional output tray is for spitting pages out print side up. As infrequently as I print something out, I don't really care which side is up.

Seems like a decent printer. Hard to go wrong for $99.

Does this company have a good reputation about MIR? Since this is not a Costco rebate which I fully trust..

To answer a few questions that have cropped up:

The printer does NOT come with a printer cable.

The rebate IS a Costco rebate. From the sound of it, Costco is pretty good about fulfilling rebate requests.

I bought one today at costco, I haven't got it running yet because of xp. I had to download the drivers from the minolta site. But do you think you could get both the rebate from minalta and costco.
