...Just saw it. What a waste. A dumb action flick that pretended to be intelligent. What was with the 40 minutes or footage trying to pawn the "new" technology. Noone cares! New technology isn't the novelty it used to be. When Back to the Future did it, it was neat. After the 15th time, noone cares what technology "the future holds". And talk about a predictable outcome. Jesus.

You know what scares me the most about Minority Report? It's a pretied up 1984 to me. The cars and all the cool geek toys were great. The fact that advertisers absolutely asailed you wherever you went sucked, and so did the fact that the gov knew your every move, every step, every purchase, every word, and in some cases every thought. I hated that. Yet we're running in that direction at Orwellian speed. If Minority Report was good for anything, I think it was the realization that even though we've got lots of cool new toys coming in the future, we also have absolute privacy and sensory rape and murder coming our way too. Who wants to see 24/7 adverting blitzkrieg? I sure as heck don't. Not to mention, I don't want the fed knowing jack about me. I have nothing to hide, yet I don't need them breathing down my throught 24/7 either just to make sure I'm a perfect little well behaved automatron.

Yeah, I got that from the movie too...with the ways things are heading these days, we might be at that same spot sooner than we expect...

I didn't get the hype...it was the usual sci-fi movie. I watched Ebert and Roper go wild over it, like it was the second coming or something. I'm always bother when a critic oversells a movie, it usually means I won't like it much.

I found the whole eyes thing a little disturbing, do you really want people tracking by your eyes.

i like sci fi and found this movie was entertaining the first time. my gf rented it and i fell asleep. definately not much replay value. the tech sideof it (burning victim names in wooden balls?) was kind of stupid.

Can't fake the tree circle things. Probably could fake others with the technology they had........

I thought the movie was cool. Good 2hrs spent in the movies chilling....

why couldn't you fake tree circle thingies? people have faked famous paintings and US currency. And, like any other technology, you could pre-empt that by changing the signal being sent TO the lasers that cut the wooden balls. I just can't picture something so hokey being actually used in a futuristic PD. now that i think about it, heh... why not, they use Psychics right? dumb...

Did your DVD skip?

Myself and a friend of mine both bought the DVD, and both of ours skipped AT THE SAME PART. He returned his, and I am going to return mine as well... just wondering if it was a fluke(pretty low chance that BOTH our DVDs would skip IMO)

what player do you have. That might be where it changes layers. I know the cheaper players will pause for a moment as the layer changes.

i just watched it last night too...weird.

i thought it was a pretty cool movie. it did have several elements of 1984, but i think it was an interesting taste of predestination arguments. Pretty cool special effects and all too. You had to love the GAP
