Sorry

Ditto, my mom had a miscarriage between myself and my sister.. would have been nice to have a bro :\

My mom had one between my two younger brothers. I would have had a little sister.

To the OP, that is harsh. Just remember, that if your sister, and her husband, or significant other is a good careing person, and in a loving relationship, then having a child isn't a bad thing. Having money doesn't make one a good parent, and in the USA at least there is no reason a family should ever go hungry or without a home.

I am pro life, and do believe that, as long as your sister is a good person, and not a drug addict, or otherwise engaging in very harmful lifestyle, then you as her family, should be as helpful and supportive of her as you can, and her choice to have kids. She is family, and having her brother, and her parents, and other siblings there to help her and support her means more than making a lot of money.

By your post I feel you understand this.

I held together pretty well through most of it - until my sister asked me what she was going to tell her daughter (she's 3, and hearing that she was going to be a sister made her so excited). I fell apart after that - we had some deep discussions before she went home.

The worst part about it was, that my family wasn't very exicted to hear about the pregnancy when my sister told them. I can't say I was either - seeing as my sister is 20, and is barely scraping by with her first child, I dot' know how she would have been able to handle another one. I know it's not THE cause of her miscarriage, but I feel guilty in this situation as our disapproval didn't help the situation.

my sister in law had 2 miscarriages before she gave birth to the first of what is now 3 little girls

That sucks dude ... hopefully she can put the pieces back together, get herself on her own two feet and try again some day.

Suck that happened. :rose

I would've gotten a younger brother if my mom didn't miscarried him between me and my younger sister. I guess it's not too bad, as having a younger sister alone is quite handful.

You sound like an awesome brother. Shake off any guilt you have, and just continue being there for your sister.

My wife had one at about 3 months. It was heartbreaking for us, but I guess it happens very frequently (the doctor told us that nearly 50% of women will have a miscarriage at some point).

You need to look at it as nature's way of saying "this isn't working right, so you need to start over".

Yes they can be very hard to deal with emotionally.

My wife had a misscarriage this past december. It would have been our first child. She didn't have to go to the hospital or anything it happened at home. She was in very bad pain for about 4 hours and then it was done . It happened on her 10th week.

Sorry to hear that. I can honestly say that I know how she feels and you just being there to listen and be accepting of her will be the best thing to do right now.

Aborting is not the same as a miscarriage. In an abortion they go in and kill the baby. However in a miscarriage they have to go in and remove the baby that died of natural causes on its own.

Ryan, that's a bummer. She should use some sort of birth control to keep from having more kids if she can't afford them. It sounds like things worked out for the best, though the path that things took to get there seems like a sad one.

Where did he say she could not afford more kids? He said miscarriage as well not abortion.

Thanks. I think in his absence alkemyst forgot what a stupid douchebag he is.

Isn't this kind of thing why most people don't tell anyone they're pregnant until they're several months into the pregnancy?

Almost the exact same thing here, except I was about 3½ years old at the time. My parents were sad, but it was fairly early into the pregnancy, like 3 weeks I think. They just loaded up on the fertility meds and tried again. 3 years later, I had a little brother.

Welcome to life, it sucks. A lot of women have miscarriage(s), they just don't go around telling everybody on the internet.
