Missing Edit button?

Went back to the OP in that thread (started by me), and I cannot edit the OP to add the current Newegg promo code for that product. The thread is less than one month old.

Is this normal? Have my editing privileges been taken away? I don't believe that I've ever abused them.

Can someone check this out?

Edit: This thread has an "Edit" button, and the "Posting rules" below says that "I may edit my posts."

I seem to have lost ALL edit buttons. Including a post made, within the last 24 hours.

EDIT: But THIS post still has one.

But my post, here, less than 19 hours old, has LOST its edit button

Neat, I did not know about this. Posts 19 hours old can't be edited for me, but ones 4 hours ago can, so the cutoff point seems to be somewhere between that, unless it's different for each subsection.


edit: When I tried to change the url to edit an old post I got this message:

The administrator has specified that you can only edit messages for 720 minutes after you have posted. This limit has expired, so you must contact the administrator to make alterations on your message.

12 hours seems to be the limit.


edit2: This seems to be a new thing, because 5 days ago I was able to edit a post that was over 4 days old (at the time):

Lack of communication has prevented us from knowing exactly what happened, but as best we can figure on our end, the Purch code team instituted a code patch which probably re-set all the editing options in vB, unbeknownst to us.

As of now, unlimited time to edit your posts has hopefully been restored.

The tech guys mentioned that there wasn't anything they changed on their ends.
It could be this is another one of those settings or switches that got flipped when the recent security update was made, as Perknose indicated. Probably the case.

Have you tried clicking the "go advanced" button, in the bottom right hand corner ?

I.e. Click to edit it, as normal, then perform the above.

Yep, I've just noticed the missing edit button in older posts too, I sporadically need to add new times to my Milkyway@home benchmark thread.

Without an edit button that'll kill the thread .

The 2nd post in this thread is mine. There's an edit button & i just tested & it worked.
Might be different for a thread i started though. You guys might want to see if it's all your posts or just the OP of a thread.
