I just got this in an email from a buddy. I don't have twitter so I can't speak to the legitamacy.

If the players take 50-50...offers on other keys issues as follows...
Free Agency would be at 28 and 8 years of service.
Entry Level Contracts would be 4 years in Length.
Revenue sharing would be at or near 200 million dollars
Contract Lengths would be 5 years.
Arbitration would still exist.
The only core issue that remains intact from previous NHL offers is the length on contracts (on all new deals).

I seriously doubt the players will accept 5 year contract lengths. Thats not going to happen. The other ones are stretched out 1 year longer, that will probably fly.

'Nother email;

@JSportsnet: Another interesting tidbit from NHL offer... Players' Salaries for those NHLers playing in the AHL would be part of the cap.

They've still got some work to do.

Besides Wade Redden who else did they bury down there?

I remember Sheldon Souray did a season at Hershey before the Oil bought him out and he signed with Dallas.

Sean Avery. Not that anyone would actually want that prick in the NHL anyway.

Nope - not really. I play [forward] on 2 house league teams per week [sometimes 3 if I'm needed to fill in for goalie] and watch the local WHL team whenever I can.

What are they fighting over now?
EDIT: just a poke. Showing my distaste in the league, second lockout in less than a decade.

i have been to many avalance games and have never seen anybody tailgate.

sort of a hurricanes thing, as far as I know. NC is huge on college sports, not quite as much on pro sports. the PNC arena is home to the nc state basketball team, and is across the parking lot from the nc state football stadium. tailgating is a regular thing at the college events, and has become a regular thing at hurricanes games.

i went tailgating at the all star game when it was here a couple of years ago
/also set up a tent fort for bad weather once
//also grilled pizzas before a game
///also have a setup for a hammock at my tailgate spot so i can drink and relax.

I'm not a huge hockey fan and I usually only end up watching a few games here and there but I find it crazy that a game that's suppose to be fun and entertaining has turned so much into commercialized and political BS that these lockouts have to happen. Why can't everyone just get along and go play. Not saying this is new, it's been commercialized for a long time, but it's just sad that it came to be like that.

I gave up on NHL after the first lock out. Devils lost a fan.

The owners can go f' themselves. Watching hockey players with missing teeth and mashed up faces during interviews after just getting their ass kicked in, then get rewarded by their employers by getting their jobs suspended without pay.

How is Detroit financials? I don't understand how the team is surviving.

How so? It isn't called hockey town because of the Redwings. I don't think you'll find a bigger youth hockey/college hockey/pro hockey area in the US. You have a built in audience for winning hockey in Detroit. Their biggest problem the last two years is attracting free agents. Too many of the tier one free agents felt they would be better served going other places for a few different reasons.

They'll be back.

No, more talking about how the city is suffering, not exactly overflowing with cash to spend on NHL tickets.

Just saw that the proposal from the NHL includes no rollbacks of existing salaies.

entry level contracts at 4 years is rough... too lengthy for a superstar youngin' to only be paid something like $500k in their 4th year. 3 years is already pushing it and by then they've proved their legitimacy.

And why shouldn't they be held accountable to it? They won the sweepstakes right?

Put me in the 'used to care but don't anymore' camp. If hockey doesn't come back I won't miss it at all. Frustrated not only with yet another lockout ( whom I blame the owners for this time), but with the game itself. They say one thing, then do another (headshots, clutch and grab, cant ever make up their minds on fighting). Not too mention the neverending saga that is the phoenix coyotes.

I think the players should accept shorter max contract length (maybe not necessarily 5 years) but fight back against the bumped up free agency age.
