I miss hockey. But the only way hockey fixes itself is by getting rid of the lying sack of shit Gary Bettman.

me to.
I try to go to a local team called the "ice hogs". tickets are $20 for good seats and my kids have a blast.
hockey is so much better in person then on tv. but i do enjoy watching on tv.
So much.
I just don't post about it much.
But with the Oilers arena debacle and the NHL lockout, it's been a rough fall so far.
Rockford Icehogs are the Chicago Blackhawks. Look at their roster and think about how many of those names are sounding familiar......
Luckily we still have a lot of hockey around here. Going to a couple Cutthroat games as well as DU games in the coming month
Denver Cutthroats
Colorado Eagles
Denver Pioneers
It's just subpar hockey - that's why it's subpar prices. They are more fun for families though and that's a good thing too. But not the same hockey if you care about the competitiveness of it all.
I actually have some hope for a resolution soon. If the owners have actually agreed to cover the cost of the Make Whole arrangement, then they're essentially in agreement on the salary issue. That's obviously the biggest impediment to an agreement, followed by revenue sharing. The NHL met the PA in the middle on revenue sharing.
Having Daly and Fehr meet until midnight is a great sign. Up until now every session has ended because they weren't making progress.
I really hope the NHL never plays another game. This shit will go on every time the CBA comes due and I'm tired of it. The players have paid 2 times now for league mismanagement, and the league now wants them to do it a 3rd time. Ridiculous.
If by some miracle the NHL dissolved and a new league formed with 26-28 teams, I'd be very happy. Drop the Devils, Islanders, Florida, Carolina, Tampa, Nashville and Phoenix, or consider moving two of them back to Canada (Quebec City, Hamilton) and one to Seattle.
I hope this really hurts the teams that just doled out $100M contracts before deciding to lock out the players. The Preds, the Wild, those guys that put up the big money and now want rollbacks.
If this league wants to fix its shit, the bigger market owners need to share more revenue, or they need to pony up to contract out the teams that will never be profitable without assistance. It was their own fucking fault that this situation even happened, allowing for ridiculous expansion and relocation to non-hockey markets because they wanted to collect some expansion/relo fees. Short-sighted and awful for the sport. The league is poorly run from top to bottom.
I really do hope the NHL cancels this season, loses the next one, and never plays another game. It's bad enough that the quality of the sport has suffered, but neither side gives a shit about the fans or the team employees. I've been a Flyers fan for a long time, but if this league returns, I don't think I'll be back as a fan.
That's nice. If you don't feel like being a fan anymore, why are you polluting this thread with your drivel?
After the broadcasting contracts and viewership that were lost with the last lockout, I really couldn't believe that another one was possible.
It was hard enough being a hockey fan when games were broadcast on ESPN, it became even harder after they weren't. Now that I don't have cable any more, even if the league comes back it's unlikely I'll be able to see anything other than a few games a year that NBC may broadcast for charity's sake on a Saturday afternoon.
Too bad.
