The picture is definitely not of a 9500 Pro. Sapphire's 9500 series cards are on BLACK PCB. And only the 9500, the 9700, and the 9700 pro had the 90-degree RAM configuration (since they had the same pipelines). Hence, the best way to know if you could firm-mod or soft-mod of a 9500 NON-PRO to a 9700 NON-PRO was by the "L" shape.

The price is also too low to be a 9500 Pro. My guess: its probably a 9700. But the price is too low for that, too! God only knows. Good luck you guys. I'm eager to know how this turns out (that's a sweet deal if you get ANY radeon over a 9500). If its a 9700 anything, I want one.

Looking at their Pricegrabber rating (which is pretty good), I see that some donkey put up feedback on 9-18 (last week) saying that he wasn't sure he was going to get what he ordered, given their "insanely low pricing." Wonder if he's talking about this deal? Anyway, he got what he ordered, despite his doubts.

EDIT: Also, the model number 100-550-SR seems to be accurate for a 9700 Pro.

Four parallel, highly optimized rendering pipelines

The 9700 Pro has Eight parallel rendering pipelines (from ATI's site). Is this a difference between ATI built and OEM? I know the 9500 only has four pipelines. Sounds more like a 9500, or will perform more like the 9500.

Do a search here. I'm pretty sure this exact same situation came up about a month ago, maybe even the same store, and in that case, the vendor shipped out the lower level model without even sending out emails notifying the buyers of the "mistake."

Cavaet emptor-I don't think its worth the waste of time and money you will spend on shipping costs (at a minimum).

Do a search here, the model number is the Radeon 9700 Pro.

Maybe they'll cancel the order, but they had better not ship a Radeon 9500 as it isn't even the same model.

Receipt for the order does show up as a Radeon 9700 Pro. My assumption is that all of the orders will be cancelled once the mistake is realized.

It might be some kind of hardware-lite version (they do sell a software "lite" version that is just the card and drivers). But I don't remember and can't find a reference to Sapphire making one.

Concur. They even have the retail price as $155. The only card that retails that low is the 9500 np. Some webmaster doofus screwed the pooch on this one. Don't be surprised if your orders are killed by management.

If this deal was a real 9700 Pro I would get it. I just spent $219 on the same thing as a refurb.

I looked on froogle and the same company has the 9700 pro for around $354. When you click on the link it takes you to this very deal. They f*cked this up. I already ordered. It is worth the chance of a cancelation.

Thanks for the tip! I love this Forum... Great for RETAIL Therapy. I just ordered one about five minutes ago. Here's what I coulds see after looking at some other parts of their Web-site. The 9700 Pro they have listed is the 100-550-SR @ $155.95
SLASH sale Price $129.95 = $26.00 savings @ 17%. I did it with UPS Ground for another $5.52 = $135.47.

Note # They have the 9700 Atlantis Pro Ultimate Edition 128Mbs for "Gamers" Product code 100555-SR Listed @ $466.95 SLASH $82.00 = $384.95.

I'm the first to admit that I'm a NOOB... Relatively speaking. I don't know the difference between these model #. Any Clues?

Footnote*
A little background.

I'm putting together my second build/Rig. And I just spent several hours / days researching video cards. It's daunting! to say the least. I'm not a gamer... At least not yet. I have a GeForce4 Ti4200 on my first build. Was leaning in that direction,
wanted to stay in The $100.00 range or under..... The more I read Sapphire kept coming up as the leading source for the Radeon Series,( next to ATI ) comes with bonus/additional software and from what I read originally made the board for ATI. If I remember correctly. So I started thinking (not always a good idea) that I should try the Radeon series as they get such great reviews. It's about $35.00 to $40.00 more than I budgeted.....or maybe a couple $$$ Hundred savings! We'll see.

Thankx for helping me make a decision and following it though with action.
