People KNEW in advance it was a mistake and were trying to take advantage of an honest pricing error. Its not like they were mislead.

I want to say one thing about this quote. I had a feeling that this was probably a price mistake, but I did not KNOW it to be such. I am not a computer fanatic like the ones here that have 5000 posts. I am a professional, as well as a graduate student and don't have the time to keep up. I do like computers though, and help friends build them. I knew that the 9700 pro was new LAST year, and figured the price had gone down, although not nearly that much. My big hobby is the guitar. I am a guitar fiend and keep up with all the gear. You could say that I have G.A.S. or gear acquisition syndrome. My point is that at least with guitar gear, it does happen on occassion where a dealer will blow out a part for a ridiculous low price. I can actually think of one with the last year that sold for about $123 when it was being sold for almost $300 in other stores at the time. What I am saying is that although I knew there could be a chance that it was a price mistake, I did not KNOW that it WAS a price mistake. Regardless, as I stated before, I didn't care about the card one way or the other. I actually agree with the chemist here. That was my problem as well. My rep was incredibly rude and even hung up on me. Had the rep been civil to me and apologized for the error I would have been cool. He didn't. I even told him that I would post on RR and he invited me to do it. I did. After reading this thread I went back and read my post at RR with the intent to update it if I felt it was too harsh. Everything I said was true. I didn't change it. I also don't feel that I bashed the company. I simply reported the facts about a transaction which is why I GO to RR when I want to purchase something. This way I can read a sampling of past transactions and get a feel for the company. I am saddened to learn that they deleted all negative posts. I simply can not go by RR anymore. These posts were based on transactions. They were not false. Most of which clearly stated that they didn't care about the card, but were posting in response to the customer service. That is an important fact for future customers. I don't get how that is bashing. I think some people here with 5000 posts need to step away from the computer and get out in the real world a bit and experience life. I have no harsh feelings toward DU but I will not purchase from them again. You weren't on the phone with me. I guarantee you that had any of you been spoke to like that from a rep of a place that you spent money at, you wouldn't be back either. If I berated one of my clients, especially after I screwed up...that client would no longer be a client. There are too many reputable places to deal with. I wish DU good luck, they clearly don't need our patronage anyway. My friend will get a different card. I apologize to the elite here that think we are pitiful nubes. To each his own. No hard feelings. I do want to say that I do appreciate the post from DU, but that is all they had to do in the first place.

Topic: Mistake price Radeon 9700Pro..129$

Then you're a moron considering that it's stated in the thread title that it's a price mistake.

You know what? I have been completely civil, and professional here. To answer your brilliant post, here is what the first post said;

don't know if it's real or just some mistake by the store but you guyz can check that
http://store.yahoo.com/digitally-unique/100550sr.html

One tip for you though. Don't speak to someone online in a way that you wouldn't dare to in person JR. Keep it constructive and not personal. You don't know me. You wouldn't speak to me that way in person. I have no reason to lie to you. I could care less what you think. You seem to be missing the point anyway. My problem was with the customer service. Learn to read before you start calling someone a moron.

Duhh,

Not sure if you are mocking me or not, but like I said, I really don't keep up on this stuff. That is why I didn't care about the card. Thanks for the info though it is truly appreciated. I saw a deal on the 9800se which looked cool for my friend, but based on your info I will pass.

BigDaddyD makes a inarguable point: "You weren't on the phone with me. "

My rep did not handle it well either.
Judging by your attitude here, I imagine you were even worse with them on the phone.

You knew the deal was no good. Seems to me you all got what you deserved.

vic: Geez, you are coming across like the customer rep on the phone. Are you sure you are not the same guy? Is it typical for people to be rude like this? Maybe people in big cities are like that. Just kidding.

I don't know about others, but I wasn't rude or anything to the rep. I was just going to ask about the status of my order (this was when some guys got their orders shipped and some got canceled at FW). And before I could finish asking, the guy just interrupted me, snapped "we canceled your order. Click" he hung up. A "sorry, it was TRUELY a price mistake, and we are unable to fulfill your order" would done better. I was rather suprised, or shocked might be a better choice of words. I was half expecting that they canceled my order, but I wasn't ready to be hung up on by anybody except my wife. This was a first truely rude treatment I ever gotten as a customer.

How would you like to be treated like that as a customer. I still didn't give them a bad rating, not because they didn't deserve one, but because I had better things to do than wasting any more of my time with that company. They will not be getting any business from me or any of my friends.

to find out more about 9800SE, check out this link: 9800SE

Looks like, if you know how to mod the card, then you might end up with a 9800. If you are not hardware wiz, it might be better to go with a 9700 Pro, just to be safe.

Why the hell did you people call the customer service agents after your orders were cancelled anyways? To see if you could weasel/extort a free coupon or some free shipping out them??

This is a microcosm of why the world is so fvcked up.. no compassion or care for ANYONE BUT YOURSELVES!!! ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME

Maybe you all would be happy if Digitally Unique WENT BANKRUPT just so you can have your fvcking video card??? Would that make you happy? After they sent you an email saying they made a mistake ACCEPT IT AND DON'T TRY TO EXTORT GOODIES OUT OF THEM..

WHY do you feel entitled to profit because of someone else's mistake? Do you want to have to pay HEAVILY for EVERY SINGLE MISTAKE you make ... ARe you as critical of yourselves as you are of other people? Do you hold yourself to that same high standard?

this is why i generally stay out of HD. i come in once in a while, but these ferengi that are willing to sell their honor for a couple of bucks drives me crazy.

btw, you had the best response here yet. OF COURSE you called the CSR to give them a hard time, doesn't take a genius to figure that out. whethor or not you were "rude" is irrelevant. the phone call itself was rude.

Hence, the best way to know if you could firm-mod or soft-mod of a 9500 NON-PRO to a 9700 NON-PRO was by the "L" shape.

The price is also too low to be a 9500 Pro. My guess: its probably a 9700. But the price is too low for that, too! God only knows. Good luck you guys. I'm eager to know how this turns out (that's a sweet deal if you get ANY radeon over a 9500). If its a 9700 anything, I want one.

incorrect.. sapphire's first series of 9500s were red. mine is. In fact there were even threads for a red 9500 sapphire card on here not to long ago.

Right. The first series, a year ago. Then ATI caught on about the softmod, and had Sapphire (their manufacturer) switch to black PCB, linear mem-config, to differentiate the generations. You can't find it in retail anymore, only on Ebay (or at least I can't). Either way, the 9500 Pro never had the 90 degree mem config, which was my point.

The 9800SE is more like a handicapped 9800 than a step down. Its only got 4 pixel-pipes, instead of 8 like the normal 9800s. So its fill rate will be (theoretically) a whole lot lower than the 9800 or the 9800P. Its also clocked slightly lower. I'm not even sure why they made this card. Probably since the 9600 Pro is so dismal compared to the 9500 Pro, so they wanted to offer something thats a little faster than the 9600 Pro and a little slower than the 9800 (more like the 9500 Pro). But that's speculation.

If you've got the money for a 9800SE, get a 9500 Pro. They still kick, and they handle DX9 just as well as a 9600P. If you can spare a little more, get a 9700 or a 9800. Non-pro. The performance to price ration is much better on those models. They aren't too much, new or used, on ebay.

Don't know about the others, I called them BEFORE I got the e-mail my order was canceled. THE E-MAIL DIDN'T COME UNTIL THE NEXT DAY!

It won't make me happy if DU goes bankrupt. But it sure didn't make me happy when they were rude for no good reason. If they keep on treating their customers like that, they don't deserve to have any.

Nobody is willing to take responsibility for their mistake nowadays. Now that's what's truely "fvcked up" about this world. Everybody is trying to weasel out of the crap they just dumped, and not only refuse to apologize, they give the world the finger. Don't know what kind of cushy jobs you guys got, where I work, behavior like that could cost me my job.

Thanks, man. They seem to have put out so many models since I last looked. I am getting confused. The last card I bought was a new ti4200 which is what I still have. I don't game much myself, so it is mostly used for business stuff at the moment.

I had told myself that I wasn't going to reply anymore to this thread because it is not a Hot Deal, but I feel that I must respond to this. And to make sure no one gets the wrong idea, I have no affiliation with Digitally Unique or any other computer reseller.

You were not a customer in this case, Xephoid, you were a thief attempting to get in on a massive fraud that could have bankrupted their company in one single day, costing them all their jobs and taking food off their families' tables. I'm sure they understood their fault in the mistake that led to this but they had their survival to protect against you merciless wolves and so they did what they had to do.
BTW, I am very sure that (unless you're only 14) you've had rude customer service before. Let's not lay the BS on too thick, eh? And I'm also sure that you've never done business with this reseller before, and that you probably hadn't planned on doing any business with them until you stumbled across this opportunity to try to rob them, so they probably aren't going to miss you as much as you pompously think. Nonetheless, they did leave it nice and sweet for you all (better than I think you deserve), so I still think they handled it well.

btw, I think this thread should be locked. The Hot Deal was never here and it is now an OT pissing match. I am done with. If anyone has any rebuttals, take it to PM.

Vic, you are way out of line here calling other people you don't even know thieves, and wolves. I think you got some serious issues. I largely agree with what Xephoid said. Nobody deserves rude customer service, and we are definitely not "thieves" or "wolves". It was probably a price mistake, but there is always the chance it wasn't. I didn't pin my hopes on it, and wasn't going to make them honor their price. For the last time, the issue people have is with the rude treatment, not the cancellation of their orders. I guess you might not have a problem with being treated rudely, since you come across just as bad if not worse, but most normal people do.

No, I was just giving it a shot. A long shot, I admit. They should have just canceled the order and apologized. Being rude was totally uncalled for. Just as there is no need for you to call other people you never met thieves.
