Sounds like standard babble you'd hear for an entry-level position.

If so, "Dude, you're getting a Dell... errr, a job!"

It all sounds like you're interviewing for a junior position, and you're the first guy to show up without their mommy. Kinda crappy interviewer skills I think.

Every single time I was told that I was over qualified or the like... I NEVER got the job and someone fresh out of college, with no experience got the job at a lot less pay.

I hate it when an interviewer gets your hopes up and then doesn't offer you a job. The interviewer doesn't even tell you why either. Bleh don't mind me, I'm just bitter.

My experience. I joined my current job a year ago, and heard the same exact things. I took it anyways because I wanted a job. However, after my 6 month review he says I'm not very good and I have too many bugs in my code, and "You're not a team player" etc. So he can't give me any more money, he then put me on probation. 2 months after said I haven't improved, I have slowed down so he still can't give me a raise. But he was happy that I'm still working there. Then he started looking to hire new people... I'm still not canned but I assume it will happen after the new guy gets up to speed.

Even if you do get the job and get the money you asked for, expect drama on their part.
