Mixing brands/different memory speeds with Asus P8P67 Motherboard.

Hi there,

I recently built a new computer with an Asus P8P67 motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231417 is the current RAM I have in the system.

I am looking to add some more RAM and was wondering if the asus motherboard wouldn't like a different brand of memory, and/or perhaps different memory speeds? Also just curious since I have a total of 4 DIMMS, and 2 DIMMS left, would it make any difference to add 2 gigs on one, and 4 on the other? I tried to research this question for my motherboard, but found it hard to receive some conclusive answers.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

If it was me and I needed the xtra ram I'd just buy another matched set. The price of the memory you linked seems cheap enough to me. You could mix and match but at todays DDR3 prices why would you need to.

Filling all your memory slots puts more stress on the MB and memory controller inside the CPU. Throwing in a mix and match memory configuration may jeopordize your systems stability.

Best to run DDR3 in matched sets. Speed will default to slowest set. It's OK to run a pair of 2gb's with pair of 4gb's as long as they are in the correct slots to keep them in dual channel mode

Asus boards are full of junk with the ram you put in them. Different brands and different voltages and it wont sometimes boot until you remove some of the all sorts ram
