Any thoughts on using two Koolance VID-NV2-L06 card coolers for SLI with a Danger Den RBX CPU Block in an DFI SLI-DR mobo? The only issue I see (and it may be more of a big deal than I realize) is reducing the 1/2" fittings on the RBX to 1/4" into the VGA blocks.

Should I order the RBX with 3/8" fittings instead? How much will this limit CPU & system cooling?

Card Coolers: http://www.koolance.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=29_46&products_id=174

Thanks!

Ideally you would want everything to have the same hose size. Going down to 1/4" is pretty restrictive. Why not just order 2 Maze 4 sinks for the video cards and put ramsinks on the ram? If you have good enough airflow through your case the ram should not be a problem at all. Is there any particular reason you want the RBX over the TDX? What will be included in the rest of your set up (pump, res, rad, etc)?

To clarify the parts I'm looking to use it's going to be a primarily DangerDen setup but the low profile maze 4 GPU blocks just don't inspire me.

DD RBX CPU Block
DD D5 Pump
Black Ice Extreme II radiator
Tygon tubing
Koolance CHC-A05 chipset cooler
Previously mentioned Koolance GPU blocks

My rationale behind the RBX vs. the TDX is with the dual outputs I can go directly to the GPU blocks without an additional Y fitting. But now it looks like I'll need a reducer going into and out of the GPU blocks.

I've read the DD products like having high flow so my main goals are
1. Keep everything as efficient and cool with as much flow as possible and
2. Don't gunk anything up with different metals in the system.

Go ahead and ring in with any more ideas.

Have you looked at the reviews of the maze4's and the koolance sets? I'm only asking because I have a Maze4 on my 6800GT and it runs amazingly cool. I get 42/50 idle/load with it. I was previously using an NV5 silencer and was getting 66/80. I'll look for the link to a site that has charts of everything they've tested and post back to let you know.

I see your reason for the rbx now and it makes sense to me, but I still feel you'd be better off with the maze4's to keep everything at the same ID, which would help to keep your flow rate up.

Put a tee on the pump outlet, run 1/2 to the cpu block and 1/4 to the video blocks, and use 2 or 3 return lines to your res. Though to be sure of getting good flow to the video blocks i'd reduce the cpu block to 3/8.

I cant find anything ANYWHERE about problems using a reducer for 3/8" to 1/4" or how much pressure the vid card coolers will take. DangerDen advertises that their products are tested to 85 psi but I don't see anything like that on the Koolance site or anywhere else. I'm going to use the D5 pump which at it's highest setting puts out about 263 gal./hr.

This is absolutely maddening. I can't imagine that they'd burst (especially at almost $100 each!) but the big question is always "what if".

I guess I gotta hope someone else makes a decent GPU + RAM cooler that will work with SLI.

Thoughts?? Ideas??

Thanks

Steve
