Mixing RAID and non Raid on A8N

I have set up a RAID 0 config as my boot drive using the Silicon image controller on the A8N-SLI...Having problems with BSOD/lockups due to SI driver...Considering a change... Originally set up the RAID0 on the SI controller cause I will have a 3rd SATA drive for the data files in a non RAID config. Didn't think I could install all 3 drives on the NVidia controller with both RAID and non RAID. BIOS appears like it will support this though.

Has anyone mixed RAID and non RAID on the NVidia controller?

Is it recommended to install both a RAID 0 and a separate single SATA drive on the NV controller? or separate them between the SI and NV controllers? If separate...Where to place the RAID, NV or SI controller?

If I add 1 PATA drive (non RAID), does the recommendation change?

Thanks

I would completely ignore the SI controller. Having 4 SATA ports on the PCI bus was not a good idea from ASUS (and many other nForce4 boards too).

The nForce4 controller should work fine.

well I had my RAID on the NV controller and it's VERY unstable. I've moved my RAID to the SIl controller and finally I have a RAID that works. Ignore the SIL controller because it's on the PCI bus is stupid arguement, yes it's not as fast as the NV controller but we're talking margins that few will notice. I know I don't

Hmmm...50% for the SI controller, 50% for the NV controller. Anyone else have any input?
If I put 4 devices (2HDD for RAID plus SATA HDD for general storage, plus SATA DVD drive) on one conntroller will I have any better/worse performance than if I split them across the 2 controllers?

The HardOCP review shows the nv controller to be faster, and the nv controller works fine for me.

Tried creating a new RAID 0 on the Nvidia SATA 1 and 2. Placed the Plextor 716SA DVD ROM on the Nvidia SATA 4. Messed with it all afternoon, could not get it to work. Found this other thread with a similar problem. Only way I could get the 716SA to work was to place it on the SI controller. Any ideas on why the 3 drives will not work on the NVidia controller? Drivers? ... Anyone else get a similar config to work?
