MLB:NY Mets: The Official Thread, 2007 HISTORIC meltdown COMPLETE.

Mets with a nice win today in that damn Cincy bandbox. Pedro pitches 5 innings with a couple of K's, gave up 3 hits and 3 runs (2 earned). He was alright all things considering and gets his first W of the season. Nice of them to beat up on Hudson, Smoltz and now Harang.

Nice sweep of the lowly Astros and Pedro pitches 5 scoreless innings to notch his second win of the season. His changeup and curve were good and his fastball was alright but its a very encouraging start! Hopefully next time he can go beyond 5 innings.

Its also nice to see the Mets hitting well at Shea especially Beltran who is usually quiet at home but great on the road. Unfortunately, Reyes continues to slump big time at the plate and he just pops up everything he sees. I hope he can get out of it this week.


...and speaking of this week..its a big one! Three games with the Braves and three with the Phillies. If the Mets can win both series then its all good the rest of the way.

Looks like I'm talking to myself now!!


The Mets take 2 out of 3 against the Braves and finish the season series with Atlanta with an even 9-9 record. With the Rockies beating the Phillies the Mets are up 7 games which is nice with the Phils coming to Shea on friday for a huge series. Mets can close the deal this weekend on the NL East if they can win the weekend series.


Lets go Mets...and please DFA Mota. He's horrid.

At first I was beyond angry with the way they played today but the way I see it..if the Mets don't want to show up and play good baseball then why should I give a shit?


The Phillies are playing like a team that wants it all. Meanwhile the Mets play lazy baseball, show no killer instinct, Reyes is acting like a prima donna and is worthless at the plate and now the field, the bullpen SUCKS and Willie is an idiot. Too bad you can't clone Wright for every position.


The Phillies have a terrible rotation and bullpen but hey...against the Mets they are cy young candidates! Really amazing how awful they have played against the Phillies.


Good for Phillies fans. The Mets are a very lucky team this season. The last two weeks will be against the Marlins for 2 series, the Nats for 2 series and 1 rainout makeup game with the Cards (on the 27th).


Also, the Mets will start Lawrence tomorrow against the Nationals instead of Pelfrey. What in gods name are they doing? Lawrence, Maine and Pelfrey instead of Pelfrey, Maine and Glavine??? !!! HELLO MCFLY! This team despite being in first place (for now) gives me big time headaches.

win the wild card??? right now I don't see how the mets are going to win the division, up 1.5 games and the phillies only have washington and atlanta left...

Maybe the Mets are just making sure they get to play the Central division winner in the NLDS? I cant think of anything else to explain their play.

Tell you one thing, it sure is nice not to have to listen to annoying Mets fans call up WFAN and trash talk the Yankees like they were in April-June... They never learn...

As that football coach yelled out a couple of years ago in some interview.. PLAYOFFS??? PLAYOFFS??!!!

The Mets aren't going to win shit. Lazy, uninspired baseball, Maine in the biggest game of this season for him came up mighty small giving up 8 runs against the horrible (but hard playing) Nats. The Mets bullpen is so bad so I pretty say its game over once Dr. Wee Willie trots one of those carcasses from the garbage bin. They had TWO meetings before yesterday's game..I guess Maine missed them both.

Jimmy Rollins is backing up every single word he has said and when the Phillies win the division he should get the NL MVP. Our underwhelming shortstop should find a way to crowbar his head out of his ass and start playing better. Don't get me started of Dr. Wee Willie and some of his bonehead moves. As bad as Willie can be sometimes this mess is just about all on the players. They have none of the fighting spirit the Phillies have. ZIP!

Well the Yanks were horrible that time and even dumb Yankee fans went nuts there calling for Torre's and Cashman's head. Mostly stupid Mets and Yankee fans call WFAN which is why its entertaining. I'm sure a few Yankee fans will call the station this week to trash the Mets. Mets surely deserve it. The Yanks are going to the world series..unless they face the Angels in the playoffs.

Well the team this year was nowhere near the level they were last year. Only Wright has shown up year long and Beltran took a long time before he started to get it going. Whatever happened to Delgado? Reyes thinks he's a superstar and so is entitled to laziness on the bases and field. What gave him that idea? The bullpen stinks. No one in there aside from Feliciano on occassion and Wagner can be trusted to hold. Mota needs to vanish. I hope Joe Smith fixed whatever issues he had in the minors and can set this group straight. The starting staff? I can't really complain I guess since it's about on par with last year's staff, maybe better. Maine has been in big games before and it sucks he had his worse stuff in the worse possible moment.

why does Schoeneweis even get to see the mound when the game is close? I am going to kill someone the next time I see a 1 or 2 run game and Schoeneweis on the mound with Mota warming up. Of course the 1 run difference yesterday was the home run Schoeneweis gave up

Still wasn't a really crisp game with Beltran muffing a play as well as Wright and Reyes throwing balls to the crowd instead of first base. Pelfrey stepped up and was good and really wasn't hit hard at all. Lots of dribblers and bloops. The pen was excellent for once and Wright is hitting the ball every day as well as Alou and even Green. The offense is fine.


Funny thing is that the Marlins pushed back Willis so he can pitch tonight. Very strange and while Dontrelle has had a bad year I could see him shutting down the Mets as usual. Glavine has to step up big again and pitch a gem.

The Mets should forget the Phils and just win every damn game. Believe dammit!
