Horrendous. Terrible bullpen and David Wright can't even throw to first base. This team is really not very good at all and aside from their great April they have been a mediocre .500 team. Now that they have pressure on them they show their true form..that of mush.

ugh, i don't even know what to say except i felt physically ill when they let the marlins tie it in the 9th...i have had a lot of ups and downs in my 20+ years being a mets and bengals fan, but this is the only thing in my life that made me feel physically ill

What can you do bro.. the bullpen is horrendous and must be top priority #1 for Omar. I cannot trust anyone there now. Wagner has back spasms all of a sudden from all that work he's been doing lately (yea right..)..so forget that puss. Sosa's arm is gonna fall off soon, Mota shouldn't be on this team...etc. If Willie knew that Wagner was unavailable then he should have saved Heilman for the 9th if needed but who knows whats going on now.

Lastings went bonkers last night and needs to mature a bit. I like his spirit but he's gotta have more self control and can't let an ump get to him like that. Glavine also didn't show up yesterday and was batting practice in the 5th inning. Pedro pitches tonight and since he's just a 6 inning pitcher now we'll be seeing that awful pen again. <shudder>

Excellent game by Perez, he always seems to step it up in big games.

Castro had a great game too, what a guy to have as backup.

Maine wasn't so good but only gave up 2 runs. Delgado with a monster 3 run homer only to see Heilman and then Wagner give it all back. :| Smith was outstanding in the 10th and then the Mets got a run in the 11th thanks to Wright. Sele and then Schoeneweis finish up the 11th for the win. Phillies lost so the Mets are up by 2.5 games with 7 games to go.

The Phils don't play tomorrow so a win against the Nats tomorrow night would put the Mets ahead by an even 3 games. Pelfrey pitches tomorrow.


This team gives me ulcers.

The bullpen looks completely exhausted, if this team does make it to the playoffs, the starters better eat up more innings than they have been lately or its going to be a very short October....

Great win today though in spite of the bullpen.

Man, we're in the middle of a pennant race and we've got Pelfrey and Humber as our pitchers during this last stretch? At least Pelfrey has been pitching good lately.

What's the latest on El Duque? Any chance he'll be ready for the (hopefully) playoffs?

last I heard he was getting his boot off today or tomorrow and going to try throwing off a a mound towards end of week...

Pelfrey & Humber should have been getting used from the pen for last few weeks to get them used to the different routine, thats where we will need them to be effective in October. The current bullpen is shot to hell and desperatley needs help, plus we will be going to down to 4 starters anyway.

Well that was a damn disaster. They can't even beat the damn Nats!! Pelfrey stunk and the pen was as usual total garbage. Mets couldn't hit Cy Chico either and now their lead is down to 2 games. Every game is a must win of course but with Phil Humber starting on Wednesday it looks like Tom Glavine will have to pitch a damn complete game shutout.

Nice of Willie to waste Feliciano on a blowout game too! What a fool. You use the Collazo's or Muniz's of the world for games like this! Why were they called up in the first place if they won't be used??!

I have a better question. Why did Glavine have to pitch like caca today? Willie also made a mega bonehead move later in the 7th inning by leaving in Sosa with a lefty at the plate with two outs instead of bringing in Schoeneweis. Boy did he get burned big time for that. Gary Cohen was all over Willie that inning.
