Absolutely horrific pitching. The pen is useless. The Mets are gonna get swept by the freakin Nats. So damn pathetic. I really cannot believe how bad the pitching is on this team. Omar has a ton of work to do this offseason. This team does not deserve to be in the postseason and if they don't make it (I dont think they will) I won't care. I really won't.

The Nats are a juggernaut!!! The Mets pitching is about as pathetic as it gets.

The collapse will be complete in two days.

I am in the same boat as you...I really don't want to care right now, I am a life long die hard mets fan...I still have a clay sculpture I made of Howard Johnson that I made in 5th grade, but right I hate them, I will where my jersey tomorrow with pride and for good luck, but I really am mad at them right now. I would be ok if it was because of talent or even lack of execution, but the mental mistakes are what are killing me and causing me not to care...ugh, right now I feel worse then beltran striking out last season, I feel worse the kenny rogers walking in the winning run, because I feel betrayed by a team I love....AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it was the phillies beating us, if it was the braves, padres, rockies, cubs, brewers whoever, I would by depressed and upset, but the freaking nats...the freaking marlins....come on!!

you have a pitcher starting his first game ever in the majors, and the inning he leaves u are down 1 run with 4 left to play and you can't score 1 freaking run...is alou the only person playing this game? Is he the only one who cares? What happened to our savior David Wright (I hope he gets out of this cause he has left 7 men on base in 2 games)...and Jose Reyes does he care about anything except Homeruns and stolen bases anymore has he forgotten how to field and run out singles?

what killed me the most was last night when the mets were down 10-3 and in the field they zoomed in on different players...Delgado- Huge grin on his face....Wright- Grin and chuckling...Reyes-all you could see was teeth cause his smile was so big....wtf are you smiling at??? you are losing the freaking division!

well I had a beer or 2 tonight, but anyway I will finish it off with a piece of good luck-

Meet the Mets, meet the Mets,
Step right up and greet the Mets.
Bring your kiddies, bring your wife,
Guaranteed to have the time of your life.
Because the Mets are really sockin' the ball,
Knockin' those home runs over the wall.
East side, West side, everybody's coming down,
To meet the M-E-T-S Mets, of New York town.

Oh, the butcher and the baker and the people on the streets,
Where did they go? To MEET THE METS!
Oh, they?re hollerin? and cheerin? and they?re jumpin? in their seats,
Where did they go? To MEET THE METS!
All the fans are true to the orange and blue,
So hurry up and come on down -
?cause we?ve got ourselves a ball club,
The Mets of New York town!

Give ?em a yell! Give ?em a hand!
And let ?em know your rootin? in the stands!
Come on and...

Meet the Mets, meet the Mets,
Step right up and greet the Mets.
Bring your kiddies, bring your wife,
Guaranteed to have the time of your life.
Because the Mets are really sockin' the ball,
Knockin' those home runs over the wall.
East side, West side, everybody's coming down,
To meet the M-E-T-S Mets,
Of New York town,
Of New York town.

1984 Version:

Meet the Mets, meet the Mets,
Head for the park and greet the Mets.
Hot dogs, green grass all out at Shea,
Guaranteed to have a heck of a day.
Because those Mets are really rockin' that ball,
Hittin' those home runs over the wall.
Long Island, New Jersey, Brooklyn, Queens, Uptown and Down,
Let's Go Mets: that's the cheer all over New York town.

oh man..that drives me out of my mind!! Reyes hits a homerun when the team is down by 3 in the FIRST inning and he's dancing around like its party time!! They are all like that except for LoDuca, Wright and Castillo (and a few others) but too many of them are smiling like they won the division. You should have seen Castillo after the game..he was pissed big time and slamming the bench! Thats the fire I want to see!!! Reyes is pretty much an automatic out these days. Its pop ups or stolen bases and these days its not even the stolen bases!! He's getting caught far more frequently now!

So much blame is also being placed on Willie which really isn't fair. He has AWFUL pen management and strategic skills but I know he wants the best and demands the best. He tries to get his guys to hustle and play hard but sometimes it looks like the players are not getting the message. I do wish he would show more emotion though.

I love your optimism dude and I'll bleed blue and orange forever but this team is really pissing me off with its lah-dee-dah play and awful pitching.

I was at the game last night and was so fvcking disappointed. They did so good for the first few innings then they threw it all away. We all left in the 7th cause we knew it was all over.

The collapse is complete. They are still technically in first...well..tied with the Phils but they don't deserve to go to the postseason and they probably won't.

With San Diego and Colorado right there it spells big trouble.

But hey; you can still root for NY baseball in the postseason. The Yankees will be there.

I'm happy for Yankee fans. The Yanks were shit for half a year but infused youth into the team and rallied for a postseason appearance. I certainly would never root for them but I'll give a hearty congratulatory handshake to my Yankee fan friends.

I would love to see the Rockies make it somehow. They are a fun team to watch.

It would be good for baseball for the Rockies to make it.

I think its time to start rooting that there is a 4 way time between for of these teams mets, padres, rockies, diamondbacks and phillies ...then TOTAL CHAOS!!

although this actually would be horrible for the Mets, because we would have no one to pitch
Pedro isn't going to pitch monday on 3 days rest and maine, perez and glavine are pitching this weekend

so we have to hope that El Duque is ready for monday if we need him...that is if we don't use him in relief this series...ugh

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Four-team craziness: If the two NL East teams and the top two NL West
teams all tie:
Just for the sake of discussion, let's say the Mets, Phillies, Padres
and Diamondbacks finish with the same record. Here's how that would
work:

? The Mets and Phillies play a one-game playoff Monday in Philadelphia
to decide the NL East.

? The Padres and Diamondbacks play a one-game playoff Monday in
Arizona to decide the NL West.

? The losers then play Tuesday to decide the wild card. A
Diamondbacks-Phillies game would be played in Philadelphia. A
Padres-Phillies game would be in San Diego. And if the Mets are
involved, they would play Arizona or San Diego at home, but they would
have to go to Coors Field if they wind up playing it off with
Colorado. Amazingly, the Mets and D-backs didn't find any of that out
until Thursday, because back when the original wild-card scenarios
were determined, nobody at MLB apparently envisioned that those
scenarios would include New York or Arizona. Uh, oops. So a whole lot
of frantic coin-flipping went on Thursday to sort all this out.

More four-team craziness: If the three NL West teams and the Phillies
all have the same record:
? First, the Padres, Rockies and Diamondbacks would have to settle the
NL West on Monday and Tuesday. Again, the Rockies have the best
head-to-head record, so they would have the option of playing two home
games or one road game.

? Then BOTH NL West runners-up would get thrown into another
three-team wild-card playoff with the Phillies on Wednesday and
Thursday. Here is the team that would get the option of one road game
or two home games:

? In an Arizona-Colorado-Philadelphia three-way: Diamondbacks.

? In an Arizona-San Diego-Philadelphia three-way: Diamondbacks.

? In a Colorado-San Diego-Philadelphia three-way: Rockies.

? If an NL West team survives all that, it would then play at the Mets
on Friday to kick off the NLDS. If it's the Phillies, it would start
the NLDS on Friday in the home of the NL West champ.

The Phillies have the head-to-head tiebreaker.

That only counts if both teams make the playoffs. If they tie and the Mets won't get the wild card, there's a 1 game tiebreaker between them. At least, that's what I think happens.

Man, what a finish this season is.
