He's been most unimpressive so far. Apparently he is a "lefty specialist" but Willie has him throwing to righties. ok So what the hell is he then?? specialist or not? Either way 3 years was WAY too much for him. Weather is gonna be crapola here tonight so I think a doubleheader tomorrow may be in order.

OMG!!! WHAT A COMEBACK WIN TODAY!!!! WOW!!!!

Willie puts in a weaksauce spring training lineup and the Mets were down 5-1 in the bottom of the 9th and then Dumpster totally implodes! On top of that it was Delgado who has been struggling like hell with the game winning hit with no shift on!!!

A truly amazin' win!

Great win against the Yanks tonight! Oliver Perez with a great game, Agent Smith striking out Jeter and Wagner closing the door for the win! Don't forget about Endy's 2 run homer! Its the difference in the game! As Borat would say.. Is nice!

Mets take 2 out of 3 from the Yanks which is fine though I was very disappointed at how lifeless the Mets looked after the second inning. Tyler Clippard looked good and he is the second best Yankee pitching prospect after Hughes so I figured he would have decent stuff. I thought the Mets had a golden opportunity to get to the kid in the second inning when they had the bases loaded but Reyes who has looked terrible in the series popped up on ball four.

John Maine hasn't had a good start since April and has been regressing big time. Now I doubt any Mets fan would figure he would keep up the pace he had in April simply because he's not THAT good. He's a good #3 pitcher and you figure he would have an ERA around 3.00 which he is now nearing. Lets hope he picks it up in his next start against the Marlins.

Carlos Delgado continues to look terrible at the plate. Not sure if he's still not fully recovered from his two offseason medical procedures (wrist and elbow) but he just hasn't looked good at all. Its close to June so Carlos needs to get going because he is killing potential rallies.

Nice to see David Wright getting hot and showing some nice power. He's getting red hot at the right time with the Mets heading over to Turner Cemetery in a huge series against the Braves. The Mets MUST win this series. PERIOD. They will not see Hudson but will see Smoltz on Thursday and Smoltz made the Red Sox look like minor leaguers on Saturday. He's just an awesome pitcher. Mets must make mince meat out of Davies and James!!!!!

Also, memo to Dr. Willie.. stop using Schoeneweis against righties. He is a lefty specialist and can't get a righty out!

Yet another bad game in Atlanta - shocker

I think Sosa was trying too hard against his old team
Meanwhile the Mets can't get anything going against Davies who always seems to do well against us.

Hopefully Ollie can blow them away again tonight

Baseball is a funny game. Sometimes there will a player or even an entire team that just has your number and I believe the Braves just have the Mets number. Last year the Braves had no pen and no closer until fat Wickman came aboard but it was far too late for the Braves. They now have a suspect pen but a pen nonetheless and Wickman is hurt but they just seem to rise up when playing the Mets. Pretty amazing really. I think the Mets HAVE to win the next two games as the Mets and Braves won't see each other until August and by that time things in the NL East could be dramatically different.

Oliver Perez has been a bit of a Braves killer and really has been outstanding his past couple of starts. Perez has #1 stuff and I think of all the current pitchers on the Mets and in the farm I think Ollie has the stuff to pitch a no hitter.

Also of note..when will it be time to move Delgado down the lineup??? He has been AWFUL all year and he hurts Beltran with his performance, kills rallies and hits into the shift just about every single time. Dr. Willie moved Wright around plenty and even moved Piazza to 7th in the lineup when he was really struggling. With June fast approaching I think Dr. Willie should move Delgado down the lineup when Alou comes back. Have Wright bat 4th, Alou 5th then Delgado and Green and see how that goes. Its been two months and you just can't keep on waiting for him to get out of it!

Lets go Ollie!!! Lets go Mets!

I don't think the Braves pen is suspect... well not Wickman, Gonzalez, or Soriano. It should be a fun battle all season long.

I'm not a big fan of re-ordering the lineup to shake things up. We all saw how affective it was with ARod last October.

Keep Delgado where he is and let him work things out on his own.
Did Wright get moved around when he was slumping in April? He's warming this month and definitely showing signs of the hitter he was last spring.

Also, I don't think Willie wants 2 lefties (Delgado/Green) and 2 righties back to back (Wright/Alou).

Ollie is indeed a Braves killer! About time we find one.

Do you think Gomez is now ahead of a fit Milledge in terms of a call-up?

Certianly seems more mature and professional and plays a very good game too.

Yea, suspect isn't a good word. Its a fine pen when healthy. Soriano has excellent stuff and I think should be the closer starting next season. No offense to Wickman who is ok but I think Soriano has lights out stuff. Gonzalez is great when healthy but health has been an issue with him lately. If Gonzalez is healthy then I think next year you could see the 8th/9th inning 1-2 punch of Gonzalez and Soriano. Thats pretty huge right there.

Well I wondered if Delgado would go down the lineup and lo and behold he was batting 6th and had some nice at-bats. I think he'll stay there a bit until things get a bit better than he'll go back down to the cleanup spot. Really strange seeing Green bat second but he seemed ok there. LoDuca sure loves hitting in Atlanta eh?

Oliver Perez has been just tremendous so far this season and yep...looks like he's a Braves killer! About damn time we got one when it comes to pitching.

Tonight will feature Glavine vs Smoltz and it should be fun but Glavine doesn't do to well against his old team especially in Atlanta.

This is gonna be a mega tight race till the end!!! The Phillies may have lost Brett Myers for a bit because of a strained shoulder. That what they get for moving him from starter to closer. idiots

Its gonna be Mets and Braves all year long. Should be fun!

The umps were ****** awful. Three blown calls and of course that piece of crap Angel Hernandez was a part of the Three Stooges who umped the game.

There is no shame in losing to a pitcher like John Smoltz but the Mets had TONS of scoring opportunities and couldn't cash in. The Mets had something going in the 9th and instead of putting in Damion Easley who can pop a ball outta the park Dr. Willie puts in the worthless Julio Franco who should be put out to pasture. Nice job there Willie. David Newhan is another worthless bum. Boy am I ****** pissed. Thats three damn series the Mets lose to the Braves and I don't give a damn that they are still 1.5 games ahead in first place..can they beat the Braves please??

Looks like Reyes is in a slump as well. He hasn't had a great at-bat since that hammy cramp.

The Mets are gonna see this Tim Lincecum kid on tuesday who has been lights out so far. He outpitched Roy Oswalt in his last start so he's gonna be tough!

Sucks that the Mets outfield is falling apart but playing a mediocre team like the Marlins helps out a bit. I think Carlos Gomez may be back for the Giants series but I think the Mets should be careful with him and just use Ben Johnson (who was called up today but didn't make the game). No news on whether Green goes on the DL and Alou won't be ready for a week. Valentin will be back in 2 weeks and I think Easley and Gotay have both done a fine job.

Beautiful win in the 12th inning by the Mets. Reyes scores on balk to tie it and then Delgado wins it with the home run! Sweet game!!

excellent win, nice to see Delgado back in the groove.

Mota was brought up after last nights game, but:

In seven games for Triple-A New Orleans, Mota had a 7.04 ERA, while giving up 11 hits and five walks, in 7.2 innings.
