I didn't see it on SNY but Gary and Ron said it was very muted with a smattering of boos. No cheers at all. Mota did well in his two innings of work.

The Mets lineup was totally mesmerized by Zito's curve. So many didn't even bother to swing the bat but instead admire the way the curve moved. lol

I hope the Mets are a bit more aggressive tonight against a good pitcher in Cain.

And Ollie Perez is my number one pitcher in fantasy baseball... VERY deep league, but glad to see that guy pitching up to his potential.

It's funny, I'm almost a closet Mets fan, which is odd seeing as I've been a Braves fan my whole life. But it's hard not to like this team... I always want to see Glavine pitch well, and I like the Perez/Maine combo. And Reyes is damn near the most exciting player in baseball to watch. It should be interesting down the stretch, I don't see the Braves taking the east, but wildcard is a good possiblity. If only one could predict how the west ends up. I think the only two legit teams are SD and LA, AZ is just hot right now.

I don't even know how anyone can predict the terrible NL Central! What a hideous division! Brewers has been stinkin it up and they are still in first by quite a bit. In two months the Astros or maybe Pittsburgh of all teams could make a run. The NL East is by far the strongest division in the NL and I expect the Phillies to contend with the Mets and Braves. I even think the Marlins will be a big thorn on the side of the Mets, Braves and Phillies. I don't underestimate the Nats either.

The West? mmmm.. I agree that SD and LA are the best teams but the Giants could go far because of Cain, Zito and Lincecum (very impressive young pitcher!). I like AZ's young players and soon they will be a contender.

edit: 3000 posts... yay me!

The Giants bats are ancient, but their staff looks promising - Zito, Cain, Lincecum makes a great top 3 and Lowry is a very good 4 starter.

Wright is out with back spasms and The Ancient One will play third. Carlos Beltran's MRI revealed a bruise so he's day to day.. may actually play tomorrow. Newhan will play LF tonight. So lets see.. Newhan, Chavez, Gomez, Franco, Easley vs Brandon Webb. Should be fun! Ya never know..they make squeek out a win with that lineup!

ok what happened the "go to end of thread" arrow in this new look forum?

getting to the end of this Mets thread is now a major PITA.

Nice win today after last nights loss, Sosa has been a very pleasant surprise since he came up.

Holy cow getting to the end of this thread takes forever. edit: now noticed the blue arrow to get to the last page. damn I'm blind..

As for the now hobbled Mets..man..its looking awful this homestand. Green won't come back in a week, Valentin may come back tomorrow but he's not totally healthy still, Alou will come back sometimes this season with the way he keeps delaying things and now Endy Chavez could be out for a very long time with a hammy pull. Damion Easley is also a bit hurt and its possible he may go on the DL! (knee)

When the Mets had the bases loaded today with 1 out and Endy hit into that double play and hurt himself the entire stadium went silent like someone died. The heart of the order (Beltran, Delgado and Wright) are all totally inconsistent in their performance.

Aaron Heilwoman gives up a ridiculous gopher ball to Rollins who should be inducted now into Met-Killer status.

Very tough time now for Mets especially after the Phils you have the Tigers, Dodgers, Yanks, Twins and A's. ouch Insanely tough stretch with a mostly injured lineup.

Man that sucks.

You can only see it on the main index page.
If the thread is not there and you have to search for it there is no blue arrow :disgust:

what a depressing series...and to make ot worse it was the Phillies

Mets still cannot hit worth a damn with RISP

Finally they get a lead then Wagner blows it, then Schoeneweiss really f*cks it up again. :|

That series was bad on so many levels. To hell with the injuries..it happens. Maine pitched great and Wagner was awesome until then. He was going to blow a save sooner or later but why in a big game against that damn met-killer Burrell?? Love how Willie used Easley to pinch hit and had him BUNT! BUNT!!!!! Leave Maine in to bunt!!!! How about starting the 10th with a hurt Schoeneweis (he's been hurt since last year...nice) against righties!!! He's awful all around now but he's even worse to righties. Brilliant.

Enough with all the dreck in the two spot.. put LoDuca back there!!!! None of this merry go round with a different hitter in the two spot.

Since Schoeneweis is hurt he should be placed on the DL to get healed up, Ambiorix sent back up and put LoDuca back in the second position in the lineup. Valentin is back and Green will be back on Sunday if everything works out so the lineup can morph back to something more familiar.

Two defeats by the Tigers....but at least we are scoring some runs now, pity the pitching has fallen apart.

Nice to see the Mets continuing to stink up the joint. They just look like utter sh1t. I'm sick of the lackluster and totally lifeless play on this team. If they want to keep losing then go for it. Maybe they are totally overrated. Maybe the NL simply got better. Maybe both??

I had a bad day so I was hoping that coming home to a Mets victory would cheer me up but I turn on the tube and I see them losing. Awesome.

An absolute embarrassment. Then you have Gary and Ron talking about plunking Kuo because he flipped the bat. Please.. Maine should be embarrassed to even give up a homer to a pitcher like Kuo and deserves to get shown up like that.

Mets offense has been putrid with the Carlos' doing NOTHING, no one bringing Reyes home, lifeless at bats, pitching coming down to earth big time...etc. The Mets are just terrible right now.

ugh, went to the last 2 games at Dodger stadium, we are playing horrible right now, its not just one thing either, pitching is subpar, hitting with runners in scoring position is non-exsistant and errors at key moments.

as a lifelong dodger fan... I Love It!!

I'm actually flying out for the Aug. 23rd game (Dodgers vs. Mets in NY) wearing all my dodger gear. Hope to see any of you out there too!

i was finally surprised by dodger fans last night...was wearing my HoJo jersey and a dodger fan actually knew who it was and was making fun of me intelligently about past mets and so forth, most experiances I have had wearing mets stuff at the games is just dodger fans at the stadium is "New York Sucks" or "go back to new york" or having things thrown at me, but nothing interesting

good times.

Wow. I haven't heard that name in ages. My family and I stayed at a Howard Johnson motel/hotel/whatever the heck it is and I didn't like it at all. Maybe some sort of connection? Do you have a Strawberry jersey too? I wish I had jerseys from way back.

Lo Duca was a favorite of mine before he got traded out east. It's good to see him doing well.

Bring on the brooms!! (We need revenge from last year)

Holy cow this team is depressing to watch. Horrible fundamentals and they just look futile at the plate. After giving up a homer to Betemit (who always seems to hit the Mets) Sosa doesn't hustle to first base and the next hitter is called safe at first and of course it bit him right in the ass as Furcal gets a rbi hit.

How did this team get so bad so suddenly?? wow Braves and Phillies are tied for second (will be 2 games back) and even the Marlins are right there! The Yanks are beyond hot now so the subway series may be a very ugly one for the Mets.

wow.. Reyes dropping balls, Delgado can't make a pick at first, bad pitching, poor fielding, no life at the plate. Willie has such an angry look on his face now and in my opinion he should have went on the field and benched Reyes after he muffed that play. Absolutely unacceptable and Willie needs to chew this team out big time.
