OH MY GOD THE METS WON A SERIES!

lol What a game..from Duque pitching well, Blanton making the Mets look bad, Paul LoDuca getting possessed by the devil and then that hideous dive by Buck to allow slow footed Castro to score the winning (and lone) run. wild!

Now the Mets can do something tomorrow that they haven't tried in a while.. sweep a team!

Hey..look at that. The Mets swept the A's nicely and John Maine has had two very good starts in a row. Now interleague is over and the Mets play the Cards in a 4 game series.

very nice weekend, three wins from three, can't ask for more than that

I feel a little better now about this team than I have for a while.

Gomez continues to improve with every start, the future looks bright too.

LoDuca was suspended two games for getting possessed by the devil on saturday. Castro is more than capable of playing tonight and tomorrow and LoDuca gets a wee bit of rest. Tonight its Sosa who was bad in his last start (though the defense behind him was caca) against Mike Maroth who the Cards got from Detroit.

I love how the immortal Wellemeyer took care of the Mets with ease. Absolutely insane how the Mets make pitchers like him look like a cy young candidate. It doesn't help when Valentin drops 2 balls and the Mets just don't hit. Heilman gets on my nerves and what was up with Willie putting in Franco when a hit wins the game!! Use Easley dammit!!! At least he can drive it past the outfield! Enough with Franco already!! RETIRE!!!!!! Don't get me started on Schoeneweis and the now worthless Delgado.

Tonight the Mets go against Anthony Reyes who is 0 - 9. Watch him be 1-9 after tonight. I wouldn't put it past the Mets to not hit this bum.

Another win...luckily the rain saved us from the bullpen

If we actually learn to hit sometime and never put Schoeneweis in ever again, we should be able to go pretty far, especially if pedro comes back...hell don't even start him until 3 weeks before the playoffs.

Schoeneweis should be sent to AAA and replaced by Burgos

Can't believe they gave him a 3 year deal....3 F'ING YEARS we are stuck with this guy

Nice game by Glavine last night, but its shocking that we could only get 2 hits off Reyes, the guy is 0-9 with an ERA over 6.....I was worried about the bullpen throwing this one away too....

You assume too much when you say the Mets and playoffs in the same sentence.
Philly and Atlanta are only a couple of games back and the Mets are suffering the same fate as the Yanks right now. Poor pitching coupled with good hitting, or good pitching while not hitting.

well I am assuming we are too talented of a team to keep playing this poorly and I don't know what you are talking about poor pitching coupled with good hitting.

Only 7 of our 33 losses has the team scored more the 3 runs which break down as
Pelfrey started 1 (no longer a starter)
Park started 1 (no longer a starter)
2 by Perez and 1 of those he only gave up 2 earned runs
3 by Glavine who is obviously basically done and all we can hope for is a .500 season (wonder if he would even start if we made the playoffs)

So I am not going to put anything on the pitching, except Schoeneweis since he really sucks

Ambiorix is done for the year and may have elbow surgery so thats out of the question. I read somewhere that Omar will look into ways to dump Schoeneweis..sorta like trade junk for junk with another team for a scenery change.

What gets to me is that its known that he had an injury and isn't on the DL taking care of it. Its supposed to heal on its own in due time so let him heal it!!!!

I loved how the Mets couldn't do anything to an 0 - 9 pitcher and before that Wellemeyer. Very inconsistent offense and they better wake up because this upcoming Philly series is HUGE.

That sucks about Burgos...had not heard about that.

Tomorrow's Phillies starter against Maine, a guy called Durbin, has an ERA of 94! Yes 94 not 9.4!!! Has only pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 7 hits & 7 runs

now watch the Mets make him look like an ace....

Excellent double header sweep of the Phils by the Metropolitans. El Duque and especially Maine were excellent and Wagner closes the door in each game. I was a wee nervous seeing the met killer Burrell as the tying run in the second game but Wags took care of him with a wicked slider.

Lets see Sosa continue the excellent pitching tomorrow as the Mets will face another rookie Philly pitcher.

So how 'bout those Metropolitans taking the first three games of the series with the Phils!! They go for a sweep tomorrow with Ollie Perez on the mound.

So is Beltran red hot now or what?? He was killing the ball for the entire series.

Great series so far from Mets, good hitting and solid pitching.
A measure of revenge for that sweep at Shea perhaps....thats what started that real bad run for the Mets.

Sucks that Sosa has strained his hammy, hope its not too serious - he has been doing really well

Finally, I am sick of Mets batters get hit by Phillies pitchers....I guess sweeping them would make up for it though

Well shoot..not only is Sosa hurt but so is Perez!!! He has a sore back and is scratched from tomorrow's start. Pelfrey will do the honors to finish off the Phillie series. Oliver Perez will start on Tuesday in Colorado which was the day Pelfrey was going to pitch.

Pelfrey was going to come up anyways due to the Sosa injury (strained left hammy) so its all gravy. Lets go Pelfrey!!! Please throw strikes!

Y'know what I noticed?? He looks good when no one is on base. When someone is on base he looks awful and just can't throw a strike! He and Mota kept the team in the game though the offense didn't do anything and Heilman stunk it up.

Pelfrey will get the Astros next unless Sosa is good to go.

Oh..Schoeneweis looked great again. For those that missed the crazy Scho stat..he has a 9+ ERA at Shea. Away ERA?? 0.00 WTF! Guess this means he just can't pitch in NYC! I really hope thats not the case since he's here for 3 years.

well let's hope you are not the only one who noticed that....

he sure can pitch - its definitely mental, he had a couple of innings where he pitched really well, but he had a couple where it all went very wrong....

I think the Mets bats were left behind in Philly....

Vargas to start tonight after Perez landed on the DL, he looked pretty good last time, looking forward to see him pitch again.

Glavine stunk it up and as usual doesn't think he made any bad pitches and gives no credit to Holliday who is a damn fine hitter and an up and coming superstar. Glavine walked plenty with his typical corner nibbling and as usual he is annoying to watch.

Just get your damn 300 win and be done with it. I won't miss him when he is gone from the team.

<--- Not a big Tom Glavine fan. If he pitches well and the team wins then thats good but I don't have to like him.

Loved seeing the Mets having trouble with another young, unknown pitcher. LOL Didn't you see it coming? With Vargas on the mound the Mets will have to bring the big bats and start mashing the ball.

Holy cow..was Vargas hideous last night or what.. wow. Why did Omar trade for this kid again??? He has NOTHING! Not one good pitch!!! I suppose it wouldn't have made a difference if he was good since the bats have been silenced by the immortal Rockies pitching staff. Really amazing how inconsistent this team is. They are certainly not as good as last year thats for sure. Luckily for the Mets the rest of the NL East blows.

I think El Duque will pitch well but the bats have to wake up!!!

Well at least they are consistent lately....consistently awful

17 runs on 19 hits ..... and counting

After an excellent series in Philly to go to this is very hard to take
