Absolutely unacceptable and Willie needs to chew this team out big time.

Well we should find out very soon how good of a manager Willie really is...if this is the low point of the season, i am glad it is happening now and we are still in 1st, however if this continues I would have to put it on Willie as he hasn't changed anything to shake things up.

I really don't like Green batting 2nd, but I guess since Lo Duca is actually occasionally striking out this year he got dropped down

Maybe we should put Easley back in? Valentin is batting .200 since returning and has 0 R and 0 RBI's...Easley is batting .258 with 7runs, 2 HR, 5 RBI's in the last month

also what the hell happened to Lastings? maybe he should get another chance since Gomez is only batting .230

something needs to be done and fast

What I hate is to hear the dopey comments like "We're not concerned" about the losing streak, or "it's just a bad patch", etc. No one is taking a leadership role on the team in the locker room. Glavine is the type that might do that, but he got beat up so bad last time that he'd have no credibility. Beltran is a prima donna who's afraid to play with a boo boo. Some team player... Wright is about the only one doing anything right now, but he doesn't seem to want to rile up his teammates. LoDuca seems pissed, but just at himself.

I think Willie, being a former player, doesn't want to come off like some badass to his players. This is where I fault player-friendly managers like him. He needs to publicly diss these guys. He needs to tell them --in public-- that this type of uninspired play is total b.s., and that he will bench ANYONE who slacks off.

As long as a team is giving 100 percent and still lose, I don't care. That's the game. But this losing attitude that's affected all of their play right now is unsat.

It's quite obvious that they have no confidence right now. It's a very inopportune time to go into Yankee Stadium with the red-hot Yanks. Or, it could be opportune. If you can't get up for a subway series, as the saying goes, "Jack, you dead".

One last thing: the team buzz cuts really worked out well for them, no? Looks like it turned out to be a Sampson thing. No hair, no power.

I can't believe the Mets are still in first place after their June run....Atlanta really missed a chance to pick them off.......BUT the Mets have not stopped losing yet :disgust:

Big win for the Mets...thank god. Ollie was effectively wild and Reyes hit a monster shot off of Clemens. Now Glavine has to turn it up a notch and be Tom Terrific tomorrow.

Yea dude..yesterday was the Reyes, Gomez and Perez show. You can't have the #1 and 9 players doing everything but they did...plus that wonderful catch by Gomez saved Perez big time.

How 'bout Delgado?? I don't want to say he's done, but he has looked AWFUL all season long. No way Willie can put him in the cleanup spot as he's pretty much an automatic out!!!

4-3 yanks right now...of course reyes, wright and gotay are the only ones who have gotten on base

They didn't hit that well yesterday either. Overall their offense blows.

Tom Horrific has given up 16 ER in his last two starts and his balls to strikes ratio has been getting worse and worse with each start. He's just awful to watch and his performance deflates the team after they keep giving him the lead. I bet he won't even say he's made any bad pitches. I couldn't care less about his 300 game crap as he is a brave through and through and I don't think Mets fans should care either.

Another god awful game for Delgado and now its really just scary with him. He looks lost at the plate, stiff at first base with his stone hands and just looks dead. Y'know what..so does Beltran!! He's been terrible at the plate since that "injury" after colliding with Aurelia though some of that could be due to Delgado. With an ice cold Delgado at the plate Beltran will not see one good pitch. Why should he??

LoDuca has cooled a bit as has Green but Shawn has been out for a bit. Jose Reyes has done well as has Gomez. I also like Gotay and think he should play everyday.

Very frustrating.

yeah beltran has been horrible at the plate, 0 for 6 today...0 for freaking 6!! what the hell is up with him? in the last 8 days beltran is 5 for 31 and delgado is 5 for 30 (.161 and .166 respectfully) with a total of 3 runs and 2 rbi's between them...and we wonder why we aren't winning games

How about Beltran swinging and popping up at the FIRST pitch against Mariano when there is a big rally going on? FIRST PITCH!!! Drove me nuts. I know it was a tall order to come back from a big deficit but can you at least take a few pitches and look for one to hit?? wow Even Gary Gohen sounded kinda annoyed. Sometimes the Mets fan in him shows up a bit. lol

Except for another great performance by Ollie Perez, the Mets got destroyed this weekend.

Forget the Yankees...it's really not a question of who they face. They look AND play like a LAST place team, not a fast-fading first place team. I don't get it. I'm beginning to wonder whether the first part of the season was just a house of cards, and not real. It's just staggering how fast they could have become so bad on so many fronts...no hitting, no starting pitching, no bullpen pitching...

Excuses like injuries only go so far. There's hardly anyone picking up the team save for Reyes and Wright. It's pathetic, and totally unsatisfactory.

well at the start of the offseason what did everyone think we needed
1) A 2nd baseman
2) A strong #1 or at least #2 starting pitcher
3) middle relief

now its middle of June and what do we need? The exact same things...

also thought you guys would enjoy this, found this on another forum...Beltrans "hot zone" of how he has hit pitches in each zone-

4) A good hitting left fielder who is not so old & fragile they spend half the year on the DL

yep...ugh, its so painful to see this coming and have them not do anything

something has to be done fast to correct this problem...the lineup is the first thing...cant have 2 people hitting around .150 during the last month in the top 5 of your batting order

Nice performance by The Maine Event and the Mets' bat were actually awake today..even Delgado's!! GASP!

Tonight they face Santana so it'll be very hard but who the hell knows...

Check out this article in the NY Daily News that has Keith Hernandez calling out the Carlos' for not being leaders with the media. I love Keith..he never minces his words and he is right. Reyes, Wright, LoDuca..etc..shouldn't be the ones to open their yaps. I love Wagner's attitude and he is the first guy with the media. The Carloseseses need to step it up a notch.

Mex calls out Beltran and Delgado.

Finally get everything going good and what follows? a shutout...then you would think they would be pissed about that, but no they come out and are losing 6-2 going into the 9th...oh and delgado follows a game that hit a homer and went 2/4 with 0/7* in the next to games

*he may get 1 more at bat
