Ouch.
I almost feel bad for Met fans.
But then I remember how they went wild when the Yanks choked against Boston.

QFT. Now they know what its like to be on the end of one of the biggest chokes in history. How embarrasing to have that kind of lead and let it slip away.

Mets need to clean out that clubhouse.

You can crap on Mets fans. Ribbing each other is part of being Mets and Yankees fans in NYC. At least the Yanks have championships and a history to back things up. I sure as hell don't feel bad about this team. They played like a bunch of losers. Truly uncompetitive baseball is what I saw the past couple of weeks. I'm sure my Yankee fan friends will try to annoy me but they'll be disappointed if they think I'll be upset by it. I'll join in on insulting the Mets for the losers they are. What they accomplished was embarrassing on the highest level.

Should be a very interesting night and monday morning on NYC sportstalk radio.

Somehow, I'm not surprised. I've been a Mets fan for 10 years. This kind of stuff is normal.

This is what we get for paying huge sums of cash for Glavine and Pedro. Starting pitching is hard to get, but I'd rather spend $ on a young gun like Zito, than old chumps like Glavine and Pedro.

I'm not gonna rip on Met fans, not my style.
But I just can't get rid of that warm satisfied payback feeling in my belly.

The Mets team got exactly what they deserved - zero.

Even given a reprieve by Philly on Saturday, they threw it away all over again.

Congrats to Philly, they fought hard and kept the pressure on and the Mets just could not cope.

This team needs to get rid of the old guys and rebuild a younger team around Reyes, Wright, Betran, Maine, Perez.

Willie will not be fired since he has $5M coming his way for next two seasons.

I would be very suprised to see Glavine re-sign after that. The Braves are welcome to him.

Well, it looks like there will be only one tie breaking playoff game. My Padres lost and the Rockies has a solid lead in the ninth.

I'm a die-easy Mets fan. We meant to a few times the last 2 months, but we never made it to a game. Oh well, too bad... is all I have to say.

Reality check for you Zippy. One game or 100 games is all the same at this point. The Mets are going home and the Phillies are going on.

One game can be the difference between winning the Super Bowl and losing it.
One game can be the difference between winning the World Series and losing it.
One game can be the difference between winning Wimbledon and losing it.
One game can be the difference between winning the Stanley Cup and losing it.
One game can be the difference between winning the World Series and losing it.
One game can be the difference between winning the World Cup and losing it.
One game can be the difference between winning the NBA Championship and losing it.

One game is EVERYTHING.

Mets will have bad seasons, but they will come and go

Yankee fans will always be the biggest frontrunners, including some I've spotted on this board.

It's comments like that that make a person look like a numbskull. How do you count the Yankees fans on this board as "frontrunners" when the Yankees have been to the playoffs more consecutive years than AT has existed? You've never encountered a single Yankee fan here when when the team wasn't a powerhouse.

Barry Zito hasn't shown much in a while. He isn't close to ace form any longer.

Oh really? I grew up in NYC and I'll tell you that when the Mets finally started showing some promise (last year) their "fans" came out of the woodwork. It goes both ways

So does this mean that next year they won't just give the first 10 guys that show up at a training camp game a bullpen contract?

I wasn't disputing that. The Phils fan was laughing at another team when his team was just as "bad" this year.

To be honest, how far would the Mets have gone anyway? Waste of time after that month.

This year? It looks wide open. Everybody in the NL sucks and everybody in the AL still has some serious flaws. The Mets *could* have won the pennant and in a 7 game series anything can happen. There are 8 teams in the playoffs (well, 9 at the moment) and it wouldn't be all that shocking to see any of them win. There are no true powerhouses.

Ya, and Pedro has given us Barely two seasons, Glavine in his time with the mets was a ~15 game winner.

Yes but he has given you quality. Watching Zito get shelled is the same as watching any average pitcher get hit.

love this willie quote
Asked what he would tell that wounded clientele, manager Willie Randolph said, "We're devastated, too. Real Met fans know we gave everything we had."

hahaha, gave it everything you had??? Not running out ground balls is the best you can do??? losing 7 of 8 to the marlins, nationals and cardinals is the everything you had???
