yup, except the braves have been even worse in the off season than the mets.

they let JS go, . best GM in the game and they didn't want to pay his salary.

at this rate, the braves will soon have the payroll of the marlins.

oh ya, i forgot they resigned an aging tommy glavine. that's got to make very braves fan feel warm and tingly inside.

Braves fans miss Ted Turner much?
I don't think the Mets got enough for Milledge. The Mets need pitching, but so does everyone else.

What is the likelihood that Schnieder and Church will keep those starting positions? I don't know much about either, but it's odd to think the Mets traded Milledge and got two starting position players.

Werent the Muts offered a package including Barry Zito for Milledge a cpl years ago? Granted, BZ didnt do great in San Fran his first year, but to give up LM for a couple of journeymen when you wouldnt let him go for a stud pitcher? Whats Minaya thinking? Was Zito not latin enough?

Simply Milledge is not worth now what he was a few years ago, when he was a red hot prospect.

Since he came to the bigs he has struggled defensively, can't lay off breaking pitches, has a major ego which rubs his team mates, and makes rap records with offensive lyrics (Mets ownership are conservative types, just ask Anna Benson)...

In hindsight they should have traded him when he was a hot commodity, but hindsight is a wonderful thing....

what's going on with Santana. Has he signed anywhere yet?

not a FA until after 2008 season.

he'd have to be non-tendered / released (0% chance) or traded.

he'll wear orange and blue.

WFAN reports that the Mets now have a 72 hour window to get a contract extension with Johan completed.

As for those prospects. Mets hold Fernando Martinez in much higher regard over Carlos Gomez and Mike Pelfrey over Phil Humber. I hear great things about Guerra and Mulvey but with pitching prospects you just never know how they'll turn out and if they'll even make the majors. This is a move the Mets MUST make and they have to get the extension done no matter what.

I am glad Bill Smith is an idiot and turned down the Yankee offers including Phil Hughes, Alan Horne, Tabata/Jackson.
