Yeah, you can't really be a casual fan of MLB. You have to want to keep up with the stats, know the players and really pay attention to the nuances of the game to enjoy it. This is why I try not to go with friends who are 'casual' fans of the game/teams. The beer helps though.

Yeah, nothing is worse than going to a late season game with a "fan" who has only watched 3 games so far. Every strikeout or groundball is an "oh man, this guy sucks!!!!"

A truly stupendous, hard fought effort by the Metropolitans as they get blanked by the awesome, last place Nationals. Fernando Tatis seperates his shoulder and the great combo of David Wright-Rod, Jobu Delgado and Moletron go 1 - 23 in the first two games of the series. Killer. I won't go nuts on Delgado since the Mets would probably be in third place without his efforts since the all star break.

Mets are looking like they are toast.

The Phils have completed a nice comeback against the Braves and now lead that game. They'll win for sure. Ryan Howard is red hot now and is carrying them to the playoffs. Jayson Werth has been great for them too. They'll be in first place within the hour. Nice job by them.

The season length will never shrink because the owners wont allow it, so it doesn't even matter why it got to that length. I'll go to a game with a casual fan for my enjoyment, but it really is better to go with a fan.

Because it can be? It's the most undemanding "sport" (golf isn't a sport) with people standing around for 4 hours. More games = more money for everyone involved.

I actively dislike the game, and gave it up as a kid for sports where stuff, what do you call it, happens.

But I love going to baseball games with friends.

With tonights win over the Braves the Mets take over sole possesion of first place from Philly plus the hapless Brewers lose yet another game in the standings, this time to the Reds.

I predict the division will be decided next weekend & while theres no telling how it'll work out I now think that both the Mets & Phillies are going to make the playoffs.

Tough as this season has been to watch, back in June I would have signed up for this in a heartbeat!

I was online this morning about to buy tix to the NLDS (as if) and when It found me the best available for game 1 I saw the price...355.00. for Loge Box. I just can't see spending that much on this team this year....It woulda been my daughters first game too...I think I'll save that experience for next year at Citi field in May...
