typical. Santana pitched well enough though he only struck out 3 batters. As usual they didn't touch Smoltz.

The Mets didn't hit in the clutch and already The Chef (my name for Heilman) serves up some fine meatball to Teixiera.

Amazing that Santana looked better with the bat than his mates. lol Don't get me started on Delgado who I think is D..O..N..E.....DONE! finito. Pagan misplays a ball and looks alright at the plate. Reyes and Wright did nothing against the Braves as well.

On to Shea to play the Phillies. The Mets will face Moyer, Kendrick and Eaton. You see that and you figure the Mets would kill those scrubs but watch it be the other way around. That piece of shit Eaton always does well against the Mets and I expect Moyer to fool the hitters with his slow slop. Also Mike Pelfrey will pitch in the Phillies series after having almost 2 weeks off. LOL Should be a riot.

Ollie looking good on Opening Day right now. Keeping them Phils in check. If the Phils only had some pitching they would be crazy-good.

Ollie lost it completely and can't even finish the 6th inning. He is so infuriating. Million dollar arm and 1 cent brain. Its why he will never fulfill his potential with that arm of his.

Schoeneweis is horrible, Willie is a fool for letting him pitch to righties and Delgado's defense is putrid. wonderful

THE METS WERE RICKROLLED! THEY PLAYED THE ASTLEY TUNE AT THE GAME! LOL LAWL

For those who don't know the Mets asked fans what they wanted to hear in the middle of the 8th inning with lots of songs to choose from. The poll was flooded with Rick Astley's "Never gonna give you up" as a write in and it worked. The Mets were rickrolled.

So the Mets couldn't hit 67 year old Moyer, Delgado's defense is caca as usual and the Mets pen looks like shit. So not only do the Mets look like shit today against the Phils they get rickrolled too!

Mets..LOL motherfuckers

Man I hope I'm wrong but so far the 2008 season feels just like a continuation of September 2007 ... starting pitching out in the 6th inning, terrible relief pitching, sloppy fielding and most tellingly no clutch-hitting whatsoever.

Right now I'm feeling sick to my stomach ... I have tix to tomorrow nights Phillies game & I half-way don't want to go!

C'mon dude...Pelfrey is pitching tomorrow! Don't you wanna see Big Pelf pitch against Utley, Howard and Burrell?? ...ugh :frown:

Should I just go ahead and update my sig to 2 - 5 in anticipation of Pelfrey's implosion?

I'll take 'em! <---- Waves one hand, holds out other.

And, geez, you guys, lighten up. It's a 162 game season, and while the Mets have some holes, so do my Phillies and the Braves.

There's no real juggernaught in the NL East. The Mets will be in it down to the end. I can only hope the Phillies are, too.

Oh don't worry I'll be there tomorrow & for Saturdays Santana start against the Brewers as well ... I realize that 7 games into the season @ 2 & 4 isn't exactly time to jump off a bridge, its just that the Mets havn't given me much to feel good about so far.

OMG..METS FINALLY WIN ONE AGAINST THE PHILLIES! took 'em long enough

Pelfrey was pretty good and the pen was good too. Tomorrow Cy Eaton pitches for the Phils and The Maine Event pitches for the Mets. I had enough of the crapola Adam Eaton pitching like an ace against the Mets so hopefully tomorrow the offense will get things done.

And another win tonight!

Yesterday wouldn't have meant much if they had managed to lose this game & after "Homerun" Heilman did his best to blow it in the 8th the rest of the bullpen held the fort till the offense finally pulled it out in the bottom of the 12th with a double from Reyes who then scored on another RBI-single from Pagan.

Johan's issue with the gopher ball reared its ugly head today against the Brewers. He gives up 3 homers and they were all no doubters. He didn't look that good at all today. Conversely Ben Sheets looks excellent after a shaky first inning and knowing the Mets they'll probably mail in the rest of the game. ugly game on a very beautiful day in NYC.

alright sorry i havent been around this year, I have spent my time checking other Mets forums, trying to read the MSG one in particular, but I can't stand it over there. When we win a game everyone loves the team and after every loss everyone is going crazy. (raystorm I saw you over there, how the hell do you handle it?)

I will try and post more over here now.

tough day today and I can't believe Santana got booed for this game...I know he didn't pitch well, but come on he pitched 2 good games and one "bad" game until the 7th when it should have been out of reach...had bases loaded with write up and couldnt score...I have seen more bases loaded and not scoring this year then I have in a long time

I was at the game today & Santana didn't really get booed very much ... there was just as much applause as booing.

I have to say it was a very lifeless game on the Mets part & while Santana didn't pitch very well, the Mets biggest problem was the same as it has been so far this season (& the end of last) ... failure to drive home runs with men in scoring position.

The MSG forum is fairly tame for the most part. Its a little too inactive though. I also go to Mets Refugees which is very active. It does get really crazy there too but its the most active mets forum I know of and there are some nice folks there (and some insane foul mouthed fans but its all in good fun).

As for Santana what can I say..the gopher ball plagued him last season and it reared its ugly head yesterday. It didn't help that the defense behind was atrocious. Now we see how important Reyes is even if he's not hitting well. Good defense goes a LONG way. David still struggles with throws and you wonder where he'll be in 5 years or so (first base?). Reyes is supposed to be back on Tuesday for the next series which is good to hear.

Duaner Sanchez pitched back to back for the first time and is doing very well. Dirty should be back pretty soon! This Muniz fellow in the pen now has looked very good but I figure he'll be the one to go back down when Dirty is ready to come up.

ugh, another ugly game today...10 men left on base (as of the 8th inning)...i don't know how many double plays turned against us.

also with men on 1st and 3rd and no outs, down by 2 in the 7th, why did we send the guy on third on contact allowing fielder to get a double play at 1st and home...seems odd to me, but they barely even mentioned it on TV.

what a weekend. Eric Gag-me saves two games in a row and even Mota throws a scoreless inning for added insult. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Perez has a hideous game (typical..one great..one garbage) and the Mets grounded into eleventybillion double plays with that last one getting the stupid Brady Clark (WHY DID YOU RUN HOME?) at home plate taking the cake.

Can the starters get past the 6th inning please?? Only Johan has gone past the 6th inning if I'm correct. That is unacceptable as the pen will have their arms fall off.

I expect better play against the garbage Nats but ya never know with this team.

Those Brewers though can freakin hit! They have a ton of pop and all their homers were rockets outta the park. jeez. The Mets have only 5 homers as a team (!!!!!) with David Wright having 3 of them. WTF Where is the power??

And Prince doesn't even have a single one yet. Never would have thought that Hall would have been leading the team in homers with Gabe Kapler in second.

Some of it left with Milledge, some more had hernia surgery with Alou & more still went away with Delgado's youth ... however it isn't so much lack of home-runs thats killing us, its the combination of no timely hitting with small bone-headed plays costing us games.

There were several times today when a nice solid single would have done nearly as much good as a HR & plays like Brady Clark getting doubled up at home just shouldn't ever happen on a vetran team.

Its still very early & we are only one game out in the loss column so its hardly time to panic, but I really don't like what I've been seeing so far.

So what are your thoughts guys on all the booing at Shea and the general air of negativity surrounding the team so early in the season. Granted I understand that what happened last season will not escape the minds of Mets fans but I dont understand why the fans get so viral with their attitude and even boo Johan. Not that I'm trying to defend the players and their underwhelming play but I think its time for the fans to chill a bit or at least the players show some grit and even anger. Only 11 games in though but something doesn't seem right so far.

I'm sure all the Brew Crew fans out there are screaming for Prince to start chomping on some cheeseburgers and soon.

The scattered booing for Santana was just retarded considering 2 out of his 3 starts he has pitched very well & in addition he had no part in last years collapse.

The overall negative attitude towards the team is purely hangover from last September & the fans need to get over it ... yes last season was horrible but its time to put it behind us.

It would however be nice to see some fire out of a few of the players who've been here ... it really seems like only the new guys are playing with intensity.
