Unfortunately I think Bobby V is under contract in Japan for the rest of this season so he won't be available ... most likely it would be Jerry Manual as intrim-manager.

$137,793,376 payroll LOL

As a Padres fan, I'm even more surprised that the Padres swept than you are.

Here were the starters and winners for the Padres for those four games:
Thurs. Josh Banks, winner: Trevor Hoffman
Fri. Randy Wolf, also won
Sat. Cha Seung Baek, winner: Mike Adams
Sun. Wil Ledezma winner: Carlos Guevara

Starters for the Mets:
Thurs. Mike Pelfrey
Fri. Santana
Sat. Oliver Pérez
Sun. Pedro Martínez

The Padres lineup has been mediocre at best for a very long time now, but our pitching has always been pretty good except for this year. Peavy and Young are on the DL, so how did you guys lose against a team that has no hitting and no pitching?

Because they are the Mets. They are the symbol of inconsistency and are overrated as hell. I can only imagine how it would have been if Peavy and Young were pitching..LOL.. no runs probably. I like Adrian Gonzalez and Scott Hairston..want Delgado and Castillo for them??

That is NEVER going to happen. Bobby V is a GOD in Japan. He would be nuts to leave that life of total paradise there for the mess that is the Mets.

Willie should have been fired after the collapse and Omar deserves a ton of heat as well. Sure there is no Alou (big surprise) in the lineup and I'm worried about Church and his post concussion syndrome (career threatening in all honesty). Castillo and Delgado are two black holes in the lineup, Castro was benched last night for oversleeping, Schneider can't hit, Beltran and Wright are both too streaky..etc. The Mets don't have anyone ready from the minors as all the best prospects of which there are very few are not even close to being major league ready.

The Diamondbacks have crashed down to earth big time and are struggling like crazy. I guess now that they are at Shea tomorrow night they'll go on a winning streak.

I couldn't agree more, although I'm a little biased (Phils fan). For the $, the Mets AND the Yanks are ridiculously lame.

Another day...another Mets loss. What a team. Sure would be nice if Beltran who has been hideous at the plate to start earning that moolah and get some nice clutch hits. Duaner is overused and Heilman is never used at all. Yea..I said it..Willie must use Heilman as he is a trading chip. This team as constructed is not good enough to win the division and quite frankly needs an overhaul.

Ron Darling rips the Mets in an intelligent fashion in The Record. Darling talks about flawed Mets Say what you want about the team but their broadcasters are the best in the business. I won't count Scully since he is a legend in his own special category.

So Moises Alou comes back yesterday from the DL, gets two at bats then is lifted after the rain delay. He is not in the lineup tonight and is on his way to get a MRI. LAWL What did he do?? Strained his calf while adjusting his cup?? I'M TIRED OF THIS CRAP. RELEASE ALOU! RELEASE DELGADO! TRADE OLIVER PEREZ! TRADE AARON HEILMAN! <sigh>

So they DFA'd Abraham Nunez and called up Chris Aguilla who is tearing up AAA. He is a left fielder by trade (29 years old and was previous with the Marlins) and with Alou out you'd think he would play left tonight.. right? Willie is playing Marlon Anderson in left tonight. I had enough of this shit. This old ass, injury prone team needs a major shakeup.

Despite Wagners blown save & Beltrans game-winning blast in the bottom of the 13th inning, the real story tonight was Mike Pelfry's fantastic 8 and 1/3 innings of shutout baseball ... he was really great & although its a shame he didn't get the win is becoming a very solid starter.

Nice to have somthing truely positive to say about the Mets for a change.

Pelfrey was great, but it was only 8 innings. He was pulled after allowing the leadoff single to Drew.

Its bad comedy at this point. In comes the Rangers and watch Josh Hamilton hit 3 homers each game.

And I'm going tomorrow & Sat night ... oh well at least the Sat tix were free!

Its just more of the same with this team ... all last night proved is even the Mets can't lose every game.

You go to alot of games, you have seaon tickets? If you are ever in need of unloading any, shoot me a PM. I am a Yankee fan and live in NJ just across the GWB, but wanted to catch at least 1 if not a few games at Shea before they tear it down.

Actually I get most of my tickets from Stubhub and several friends who have season tickets they don't use all the time who give them to me ... I used to buy season tickets but I spend about the same this way & end up with much better seats for most games.

I may have some extra seats for one of the Seattle games in late June but I'll have to let you know somtime next week.

Edit: Meanwhile ... anyone interested in the Mets should consider signing the "Hire Wally Backman" online-petition!
