I think this series goes 7, possibly 6 depending on who the Indians start on Sunday after Kluber.

Who does the Tribe expect to be their starting pitchers besides Kluber and Dronefinger? They used Salazar in relief last night so are they going to trot him out on short rest?

Well, Francona has already announced that Kluber will get 3 starts, assuming the series goes to game 7. They do need to win a non-Kluber game, of course, and could probably do so with great bullpen play in one of those games...but the pen was worked pretty hard last night and really needs a break in game 3, if possible.

But that sort of argument assumes the Indians and their pitching is somehow inept and/or that the Cubs hitting is unstoppable. None of that is really true and honestly--so little of this stuff ever really matters in the playoffs. Games are played so differently after the regular season is over.

Cubs probably need to perform under the assumption that they can't let themselves play from behind. Would it be outside the realm of possibility that we see some Kluber appearances in middle relief to maintain a 2-3 run lead from the 5th inning on, possibly in back-to-back games? That would be pretty awesome to see, especially it it works...and I say this wanting to see the Cubs win it.

Unfortunately kluber blows on short rest. Your cubs will win the World Series. GUARANTEED

Incidentally back to the future 2 predicted the last two teams to beat Cleveland in the World Series , and that Florida would change their name to Miami

docs denied schwarbie from taking the field, so unless a DH situation comes up he's done till the game is back in Cleveland.

Maddon loves situational lineup changes. He will throw in a PH or 3 every game. I'm sure Schwarber will either bat between a pitching change, or a RF change every game.

no, the DH rule is completely stupid. I absolutely HATE the DH bullshit in the American League and will weep when the NL adopts it.

Nah, AL is garbage. They play pseudo-baseball. DH needs to die a quick and prejudicial death.

But it's not going to. NL will have it adopted within 5 years I bet.
Adding a DH is adding another, usually quite marketable, person to the line-up (Thanks Ortiz!) More players on the field. More storylines and headlines and jersey sales. Chicks dig the long-ball. Not sac bunts by pitchers

I hate it. Ruins "baseball"

That being said, players like MaadBum, Kershaw, Greinke and even Colon hitting bombs helps the pitchers out somewhat. Too little. Too late. I'd say though.

The national league will never add the DH. It's part of their heritage and they lothe the rule.

I will take that bet ALL DAY. It will be added to the National League and fairly soon. Certainly sooner than "never".
As of last year, there were talks of it being added as early as 2017. It's coming. Manfred put a halt on it, saying most NL teams like the way things are, but that does not mean MLB likes the status quo.

I would have to stop watching baseball. It's the only league within MLB that still plays baseball.

I guess it would go the way that the NBA has gone for me.

I wouldn't stop watching -- that seems a bit dramatic. But it would really detract from the game for me. The DH takes away a huge part of the strategy of baseball. Strategy is at the very core of baseball.

I think they should apply a modified DH rule immediately to both leagues. The pitcher can show up as the hitter, or you can have a traditional DH. If a pitcher hits and is then hit for, that pitcher is out of the game.

That's the current rule in the AL now. The Giants opted to have Bumgarner hit during interleague play this year.

IIRC, there is nothing in the AL DH rule that prevents the pitcher from hitting in the DH spot.

Current rule requires DH entire game or never. I would allow it to be started and stopped during game as desired. if pitcher A wants to bat that's fine, you could still use DH in place of pitcher B. if another pitcher later in the order wants to hit that's good to, that would then just remove the prior DH from the game but another DH could then assume the role.

You didn't spell that out in your created rule in the previous post.
